About Ms. White
I am originally from the town of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. I moved to Clinton, Iowa for my first two years of college and transferred to the University of Dubuque in 2013. My passion has always been to teach elementary education and I was inspired by my grandmother who was once a teacher. One of my favorite authors is Theodor Seuss Geisel, who is the writer of the Dr. Seuss books. I believe his books and quotes are inspirational and educational for young children. Upcoming Events
On September 7th, our classroom and the other 4th graders at Van Allen Elementary will be going to Albrecht Acres to pick up trash around the camp ground. Students will be loading the bus at 8:30am and back to the school around 12:30pm. Students will be provided with lunches but can bring a lunch from home.
Reading Game Day
August 26th
Our classroom had some visitors from the University of Dubuque. They created games for the students to play that were educational and to work on reading strategies focusing on phonics, phonemes, rhyming, and many others.
Science Day
August 29th
This day we learned about animals and how they survive in different types of weather. In the bag students could feel what it's like to have blubber like a whale as they touched the cold water.
Presentation Day
September 5th
Since the beginning of school, students were assigned different states on the East coast of the United States. They were to do research on the state they were assigned to and create maps out of salt dough. We also decided to add some costumes to our presentations. We had a blast!
