VOLUNTEERING & BACKGROUND CHECKS/ CHAPERONS
Potential volunteers who are 18 or older are asked to complete a background check, just as CHCCS employees do during the hiring process.
Use this link to visit SecureVolunteer Powered by BIB to begin the application.
You should expect to receive two emails during the volunteer application process:
- The first email will indicate that your application was received and is being processed.
- The second email will confirm your approval to volunteer and should be presented to your contact at a school for verification.
- Approval should be expected within 5-10 business days unless there are special circumstances that need to be discussed between you and the school.
- You will need to send your (second) approval email to Mrs.Shelton at Jshelton@chccs.k12.nc.us (only) if you were recently approved within the last 2 weeks. If you were approved before then there is no need to send a email.
The results of this background check are valid for two years with CHCCS.

Important Daily Reminders
Keep these in Mind:
- Dolphin Reminder: When dropping off in the car circle, do not pass in the left lane after dropping off your child. Move as the line moves.
- In the mornings, if you are dropping students off by car. We ask that you do not park in the parking spaces in front of the school. If you are parking to walk students to the school entry this takes place in the Park and Go area. The parking spots in the front are designated to MES and MMS staff, and crossing where cars are moving for car circle during this time is unsafe. Therefore, you should drive through the car circle to drop off or park in the Park and Go parking lot to get out and escort your child.
- Make sure to write your child's name inside the coats they are wearing to school.
- Students may begin entering school at 7:25. After 7:50 student are counted as tardy. Note that 3 unexcused tardies amount to an absence. (Reach out to our school social worker Laura Olley if there are any questions.)
- Students will not be signed out after 2:00, and dismissal changes should be made by 1:30 PM.
- When students are late or returned to school from appointments you must park, walk them into the building, and sign them in.
