  • October 2- Western Day Pictures for 1st and 2nd grade only
  • October 3- Western Day Pictures for PreK only
  • October 3- College Day/Wear your favorite college shirt
  • October 4- Western Day at North Elementary (Kinder and 3rd grade will take Western Day pictures on this day)
  • October 7- Bullying Awareness day- Wear BLUE
  • October 10th- CHAMPS celebration- Popsicle's in the Park (Students will be off campus during fine arts time.)
  • October 14-18- Fall Break - No school
  • October 21- Parent Conferences - No School for Students
  • October 21-October 25 Book Fair Open
  • October 22-PreK Grandparents Breakfast 7:45-8:45;
  • October 22 Grandparents go to cafeteria with grandchildren to read books together, eat a snack, and make a craft.   • October 28th- November 1 Red Ribbon Week (Monday-Red Ribbon kick off wear red. Tuesday- Our Future is Too Bright to Use wear neon, shades. Wednesday- Too Smart to Start Dress like a nerd. Thursday-Drugs Aren't in Our Character- Wear Halloween costume, dress as your favorite book character. NO face paint, face masks, or any props that have to be held. No fake blood. Friday- Back up, Bobcat! We don't mess with drugs!- Wear your purple pride...but wear it backwards.

Referral Dates

The HISD Gifted/Talented Education Program provides for students who perform or show potential for advanced intellectual ability. If you believe your child is academically gifted and would like your child evaluated, please complete an HISD Gifted and Talented Referral Form no later than:


Kindergarten - Last school day in December

1st-12th grades - Last day in February
