Sign up to be a Mystery Reader for your child's class!

Mystery Readers are special guests who come to our classrooms to read a story to students. Mystery Readers can be parents, grandparents, older siblings, or other relatives. Click the links below for more information about becoming a Mystery Reader for your child's class.

Literacy- Students are reviewing main idea and details and are preparing for an upcoming assessment. We are also learning about a variety of nonfiction text features (headings, pictures, captions, diagrams, etc.) and how readers use them to better understand a text. We are applying what we've learned about nonfiction text features to our own writing of informational texts.

Math- Learners are solving addition and subtraction word problems and beginning to explore foundational multiplication skills through the use of repeated addition and arrays. Ask your child if they know the difference between a row and a column!

Project Work- Learners are starting to research and discover information about their themes.

Optional Learning Extension

We are learning about arrays (i.e., 2 rows of 3 is one way to represent the multiplication sentence, 2x3=6). To extend your child's learning, have him or her find an array around the house or make an array with his or her favorite objects. Then, email a picture of the array to your child's teacher, and we'll use them at school! See the examples below.

C2 Interns: Meet Miss Wilkins

Miss Wilkins is from Pelham, Alabama and will graduate in May from Troy University. She wants to be a teacher because, "I want to be able to make a difference in the world and in each child's life.
