Dear YVES Families,


March is a wonderful month!

As we leave winter into spring, we are planning for next year.

Next school year, YVES is moving toward full-day kindergarten. In 2023-2024, all students will be dismissed at the same time.

Kindergarten registration for YVES will be March 28 and March 29 at Willow Creek Center, 1026 Mohr Lane in Concord, Room A2.

Every Student Succeeds Act: Parents’ Right to Know

Dear Parents/Guardians:


Your child is attending a school which is receiving Title I federal funds through the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA).

Local educational agencies receiving Title I funds are required to notify parents whose student(s) attend a Title I school that they may request, and the agency will provide the parents on request (and in a timely manner), information regarding the professional qualifications of the student’s classroom teachers, including at a minimum:


1. Whether the student’s teacher:

• Has met State qualification and licensing criteria for the grade levels and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction;

• Is teaching under emergency or other provisional status through which State qualification or licensing criteria have been waived; and

• Is teaching in the field of discipline of the certification of the teacher.


2. Whether the child is provided services by paraprofessionals and, if so, their qualifications.

March 6-10 is National School Breakfast Week

The MDUSD School Board has proclaimed March 6-10 as National School Breakfast Week. "More than 900,000 school breakfasts were served annually to students, at more than 47 sites in Mt. Diablo Unified School District," according to the resolution. "The Mt. Diablo Unified School District Board of Education continues to recognize and take great pleasure in commending the men and women who accept and meet the daily challenge of providing breakfasts to our children." Centralized Enrollment for TK/Kindergarten students in 2023-24 continues

Registration for Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten students in 2023-24 includes a preliminary online registration application followed by in-person registration at the District's Centralized Enrollment Center at the Willow Creek Center, 1026 Mohr Lane in Concord, Room A2.
TK is open to students born between September 2, 2018 - April 2, 2019. Kindergarten registration is available to students born between Sept. 2, 2017 – Sept. 1, 2018. In-person registration continues next week from 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. according to the calendar here.


March 28 and March 29- Kindergarten Registration for Ygnacio Valley Elementary, Willow Creek Center, 1026 Mohr Lane in Concord, Room A2.


Drop-in dates are available for students whose registration dates have passed.

To better serve Pittsburg/Bay Point families, we will host registration at Gateway HS, 235 Pacifica Ave. in Bay Point on March 8-9 for Rio Vista and Shore Acres elementary students.
