Gearing Up to....
Message from the Principal
For those of you that were off this summer, I hope you had a restful and relaxing one. For LWTC teachers who only had a week off, I hope you took advantage of the week and were able to take time to do the things you enjoy doing. I know that some of you like Jorge Suarez and Nancy Turmelle spent time exploring what Florida has to offer; scalloping and enjoying the Tampa Bay area. Others like Khris Betten-Jutasi and Lisa Perez trekked across several European countries. No matter what you did this summer, I hope all of you are gearing up to make things happen during the 2015-2016 school year as we continue to work on becoming schools of excellence.
As we continue to make the transitions from Lorenzo Walker Institute of Technology to Lorenzo Walker Technical College and from Lorenzo Walker Technical High School moving from an "C'' school to an "A" school for the last three years; we have some great things to celebrate. This past year we had the best test scores in the District for Algebra 1, 10th grade ELA, U.S. History, Biology and AP Spanish. We will be exploring what beyond a name change and good test scores, does it mean to schools of excellence. This is a great school, one where both teachers and students are happy, safe and engaged in the joy and challenge of learning, but what work remains to be done?
I look forward to collaborating with you this year as we strive to serve our students and help them reach their fullest potential. Please know that my passion for helping all students is the driving motivational force that pushes me to work towards making the needed changes to make LWTC/LWTHS the best schools they can be, regardless of all the obstacles encountered along the way.
See you on Monday morning at 8:00 for breakfast. The week's pre-service schedule can be found @ lwcampus.wikispaces.com. Bring your electronic devices ( ipads, phones, laptops) and get ready for collaboration, learning and fun.
