January ELL Notes
Tips and Tricks for the New Year
Happy 2022!
January is a busy time of year followed by semester change for the secondary schools and summative reporting.
Take time this month to:
- Update (if necessary) AIPs to reflect current student abilities
- Continue to formatively assess student progress
- Offer support to classroom teachers
- Enter ELL services on ELLMS
By keeping these records up-to-date, you'll be ready for the Standards Reports to be completed in February.

Dyslexia and ELL
It is important to remember that ELL students have the same likelihood as our non-ELL students of being dyslexic.

CVIMS Information Night: Course Selection for High School Students
The course selection process can cause anxiety for the families that are somewhat familiar with the B.C. school system, and can be overwhelming for those that are new to Canada. This evening will focus on the process of selecting courses based on future goals and graduation requirements, the need to check with post-secondary institutions, and options like dual credit and work experience.
If you have any questions please email me (Sarah).
