extra data 17-18-19-20 May 2015
This 4 days print and dyeworkshop with Irit Dulman from Israel will be a depth exploration of natural dye and botanical print and the relationship between them. We will focus mainly on expending the classical colour spectrum of the leaves print towards much brighter and diverse shades. During the 4 days workshop the students will be exposed to complex technical aspects of botanical printing and dyeing.
Summary of the workshop
- Mordant for wool, silk, cotton and linen
- Dyeing with classical dyes such as madder, weld and Indigo as well as plants that could be found in our surroundings
- Different effects of botanical prints from sharp and bold to water colour effects, symmetrical prints and asymmetrical, folding and tying fabrics techniques and different methods of cooking bundles
- Construction stages of layers of prints and dyeing
Special attention will be paid on achieving print results in vivid colours
Irit Dulman
Irit Dulman works in her studio in Givatayim, just outside TLV, but her inspiration seems to lack borders of time and place. Her colours, textures and designs are sensually bold, seductive, introvert as well as daring. There is nothing obvious in her work, for it has it’s own reason and feminine insight.
