IN THE NEWS...

APRIL IS AUTISM AWARENESS MONTH

Please join ACE and support the small efforts to raise awareness about Autism. Please ensure you take a few moments to ensure your class is taking a few minutes to listen to the Awesome Autism fact of the day and support the signage in support for Autism Awareness.

Big Thanks to our Special Education department who has each pitched in to contribute little details to help our school community support the charge.

STAFF MEETING

Our staff meeting this week on April 14th is a mandatory meeting for all 3-6 staff members as we will be doing our testing-specific STAAR training for the administration in May. ALL STAFF involved with supporting grades 3 thru 6 are expected to attend and will need to arrange a makeup session if a conflict arises. Joy will confirm specifically who must attend and if there are any ancillary staff members who must attend as well.

SUMMATIVES -- SELF-REPORTS & EVIDENCE

Summative Season is upon us and the next couple weeks will be dedicated to finalizing up teacher summative reports. Teachers, we will need your SELF-REPORTS Sections 2 & 3 completed and your ERO Transcripts submitted to Carlene by Friday, April 15th. Blank copies can be found in the HUMAN RESOURCES-PDAS folder on Swap. Several of you turned in Sections 2 & 3 before, however, you may want to revisit and see if there is anything you'd like to update... as you have been BUSY BEES this year! ERO transcripts can be found right in your ERO account. There is a tab at the top that will pull the report for you to print -- please set the dates for July 1, 2015 through present.

Lastly, if there are any last minute documents or evidence that you would like to submit to Carlene to support you professional portfolio, please feel free to do so prior to April 15th. Although not mandatory, copies of items such as parent phone call logs, logs of parent conferences, notebooks used for anecdotals on students, consistent RtI intervention documentation, discipline logs, individual student behavior contracts, etc. are all various things that support the great things you are doing on a consistent basis.

READING WITH THE PROS -- WADE SMITH FOUNDATION

Teachers and Staff -- On April 22, 2016, a group of professional football players will be here at ACE to read to the students. This is a program that was set up many years ago and have been regular visitors of Wallace Elementary. This year they are branching out and contacted us to come read to our students here at ACE J We will begin our morning with an assembly in the cafeteria with the 3rd through 6th graders at 8:10 a.m. Please plan on having your children in the cafeteria seated and ready to go! The players are on a tight schedule and we won’t have time to wait on late comers.

The assembly will be over at 8:40 and they will move to select Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade classrooms. Please see the schedule below for times.

1 Hour 20 Minute Schedule:
8:00 AM (10 minutes) - Players arrive at Audelia Creek Elementary, check in at front office (please bring ID’s)
8:10 AM - 8:15 AM (5 minutes) - Transition players from meeting place to assembly of 3rd - 5th graders.
8:15 AM - 8:40 AM (25 minutes) - Assembly for players with 3rd – 5th (or 6th if applicable) graders
8:40 AM - 8:45 AM (5 minutes) - Take players to their designated K - 2nd grade classrooms
8:45 AM - 9:10 AM (25 minutes) - Players read 1 book (2 if time permits) and sign autographs for students.
9:10 AM - 9:20 AM (10 minutes) - Players are pulled from classrooms and return to original meeting point.
9:20 AM - Players leave meeting room and depart school

Please do not plan anything during this time, as this will be something that we hope can be a tradition here at ACE.

GYM MORNING DUTY CHANGE

For all those who have morning gym duty: please send the kindergarten students directly to class at 7:50 a.m. The kindergarten teachers will no longer be coming to pick up the students. The students have done this so many times now that they have it all figured out, so they can walk to class on their own.

TAG ON THE PLAYGROUND

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE talk to your classes about playing tag on the playground. We have had way too many students get hurt! The playground monitors are trying to watch everything that is going on, but with 2 and sometimes 3 classes out on the playground it is hard to watch every child. We appreciate all they you do to help keep our children safe.

PERSONAL DAYS

Before you request a day off, double check with Carlene to make sure there are not already 3 people requesting the same day off. According to policy, only 3 staff members are allowed to request personal days off from any one campus at a time. Thus, personal days are subject to administrative approval. NO personal days will be approved without a sub ALREADY secured. The students and their safety is our #1 priority.
