Student ID Badges

Badges will be used at all campuses district wide and students are required to wear them every day throughout the school day.

  • ID badges can be used to check out library books, scan for lunches, and are required for students to scan onto and off of buses (before/after school, field trips, athletic events).
  • Students will receive a new ID card each school year. While every student's first ID card is provided at no cost, the district will maintain the policy of a $5 replacement fee to be charged for any damaged or lost cards.
  • If your child has lost their badge, they can bring $5 cash to the front office, or you can click the online payment button below to cover the $5 replacement fee.
  • Students are permitted to bring their own lanyard if they choose. Lanyards must adhere to dress code standards.

Thank you and we appreciate your assistance in helping your child keep track of their badge!

Guidance Lessons

Our Roos Choose character trait for the month of October is Responsibility.

HMS Roos are are making choices to do the things they know they are supposed to do.

Roos Choose to be someone that others can depend on!

Guidance lessons began the month of September. Counselors are in 6th grade Social Studies, 7th grade Professional Communications/Data Entry and 8th grade Employability Skills classes to deliver lessons for September’s topic of suicide prevention. We will also begin guidance lessons at in the middle of October on Substance Abuse.

Please ensure you have read the “2023 Counseling-Guidance Lessons” tab in Skyward student verification and selected your choice for your student. Counselors will be using lists created from this tab in Skyward in the delivery of these lessons. Students who are opted-out will complete an alternate assignment during guidance lesson days.

A prevention specialist from Serenity House will begin the “Too Good for Drugs” educational program with our 6th grade students in their Social Studies classes. Please read the information form your student brings home about this program. Classes began Monday, September 12th and last approximately 10 weeks, meeting once per week.

Attendance is critical to your child’s success at HMS. Research shows that students who are present each day in school have higher success rates. Please make every effort to get your child to school each and every day. Contact our attendance clerk if your student must miss a day of school. If your child is sick at home or sees a doctor, please turn in a written note to the front office when they return to school. Notes will be accepted up to 10 days after the absence.
