Are you experiencing an increased amount of stress due to COVID?
My name is Savannah Sweet and I am a doctoral candidate in clinical psychology at Alliant International University, Los Angeles. In my experience of working with families this past year, many parents are experiencing an increased amount of stress due to the many challenges associated with COVID-19. For this reason, I am conducting a study to evaluate my work with an online, group-based, psychoeducational, mindful parenting program that I have adapted for parents in the community. Groups will take place for 1.5 hours, once a week, for 6 weeks. During the groups, parents will have an opportunity to learn more about how mindfulness- and compassion-based practices can be used to lower stress while parenting, as well as participate in informal and formal mindfulness practices, group-based reflections, and discussions. Those who participate will also be asked to complete online questionnaires on three different occasions (before, immediately after, and 4 weeks after the program). Parents who have at least one child between the ages of 5 and 12 may be eligible to participate.
Furthermore, if you know of any parents that you think might benefit from these groups, please feel free to share this information with them as well!
Please see the attached flyer for more information about how to find out if you are eligible to participate. Thank you in advance for your interest in this program.
Sincerely,
Savannah Sweet, MA
