Fall 2019 Registration
It's Not Too Late to Register for Summer 2019
Why not take 1 or 2 classes this summer that will go toward becoming Core Complete?!?! We have created a list of Core courses that you can take this summer! Click on the document below, and click on the dates that you are able to take summer classes. From there, you will see a list of core classes offered during that session. You will even see how many credit hours that class counts toward core component areas. Make a list of any summer classes you may want to take, and bring that list with you when you register for Fall 2019. Students who register for summer 2019 will win their very own AIP sunglasses to prepare them for that warm summer sun!
Preparing for Fall 2019 Registration
In this newsletter, you will learn how to complete the following steps:
- How to complete your dual credit planning sheet
- How to check the prerequisites for all desired courses
- How to find semester courses and how to make a list of those courses
- How to make a registration appointment for Fall 2019 Registration.
Please review this CAREFULLY!
Step 1: Complete your dual credit planning sheet (optional, but recommended)
1. Review your academic degree plan so that you know which courses you should take while you are a dual credit student.
2. Add all courses to the planner. Here are a few recommendations for completing the planner:
- List no more than 2 courses your very first semester as a dual credit student.
- List no more than 18 credit hours in any Fall and Spring semesters. Click here to learn how to calculate semester credit hours.
- List no more than 6 credit hours in summer semesters. We offer two summer sessions, so you can take up to 6 credit hours during each summer session.
The video below takes you through all of these steps!
Step 2: Check the prerequisites for the courses you want to take
We have created a sheet that lists all of your courses you can take based on your test scores. The dual credit planner also lists all courses you are eligible to take with your current test scores. Please review pages 7-9 in the planner for this information. If you prefer to look up the prerequsites in the course catalog, follow these steps.
- Go to the online course catalog.
- Input the prefix (subject) and code or course number (1301, 1314, 2305, etc.)
- Click Filter
- Select the class
- Look for pre-requisites. If the pre-requisite is a course, you must have completed that course or be currently enrolled in the course. If the pre-requsite reads "college readiness," review your dual credit planner for college-readiness scores.
- Look for Co-requisites. If the course has a co-requisite, you must enroll in the course listed as well as the course you are wishing to take. If you have already successfully completed the course listed next to co-requisite, you will be able to enroll in the course.
If you have questions about whether or not you have met the pre-requisites or corequisites, send an email to TC-DualCredit@lonestar.edu from your myLonestar email address. In the email include your student ID number and the course you wish to take.
