Move Up Day is Friday, June 11th!
As the COVID-19 guidance for schools has been changing, we have been given permission to conduct our Move Up Day between 2nd graders at EES, Founders, and 5th graders to EMS in a very similar manner as years past, but with standard precautions.
Move Up Day is scheduled for Friday, June 11th. Students in 2nd through 5th grade will be notified of their teacher for the 2021-22 school year in the afternoon, and will “move up” to their new classroom. This is not only an exciting tradition, but allows students the opportunity to meet their new teacher and classmates and ease some anxiety before entering summer vacation.
Placement letters will be mailed and should arrive at your home between Friday the 11th and Monday the 14th.
End of the Year Library Letter
Dear FMS Families,
It has been a great pleasure seeing your children in the library this year. Here is some important end-of-year information!
EES & FMS Scholastic Book Fair
We’re having a Book Fair! Just in time for summer fun, relaxation and reading, EES and FMS are hosting a joint Scholastic Online Book Fair for students and their families. Coming soon, from May 24 through June 6th, you will be able to choose from hundreds of books including Book Fair exclusives, new releases, value packs, and more, all online. Free shipping is offered on book-only orders over $25, and orders ship directly to your home. Please see the attached flyer for more information. The Book Fair link can be found on the FMS Library Website!
All Student Books Due: June 1st
All student books are due on Tuesday, June 1st. This will give us time to track down materials in preparation for summer checkouts! If your child has a book they would like to keep for the summer, they may renew it with Mrs. Jablonski or Mrs. DuBray. They can bring it to school during a regular library visit or summer checkouts.
Summer Checkouts
All students, grades 3-5, are invited to borrow up to 5 books from the FMS Library to keep for the summer. Summer checkouts will take place during the week of June 7th. Classroom teachers will sign up for a time to bring their class for this opportunity. Books are due the first day of school in August 2021, and we will continue to collect them through the first weeks of school. Students will need to keep their books in a safe place over the summer. We will be providing book bags, which is often a great place to store summer books. Rising 6th graders will return their books to EMS in August. Please talk with your child about whether summer checkouts are a good fit for your family.
Summer Reading Programs
There are a number of wonderful summer reading programs in our area. Information will be posted on the library website and students will bring materials home during the final few weeks of school. The most important thing is for your child to keep reading over the summer! Just 20 minutes per day is all that is needed to maintain and grow the skills that your child has worked so hard to develop this year.
FMS Digital Library - Open all Summer!
All FMS Digital Library Resources are available all summer long! Students may listen to audiobooks and read ebooks on Sora, explore interesting topics in PebbleGO and WorldBook Online and watch educational videos in Safari Montage. Passwords for all of these resources are on the back of this letter.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Enjoy the rest of this school year!
Sincerely,
Sara Jablonski
