Thank you to all our staff who attended the Design Challenge at NCSU yesterday and last night. You made our school so proud. My email is flooded with accolades from NCSU personnel and from our parents.
Jacquie and her chorus did it again! Their performance at Jones Auditorium was amazing and Dr. Page’s comments about Jacquie and her abilities as a music teacher were so heartfelt and so well deserved.
We are so proud of the progress our students are making with the latest assessments. Thank you for working so hard to help all students experience success. This is going to be a great year. Thank you for pumping our students up, believing in them and giving them the tools to be successful. I am so grateful and appreciative.
We appreciate our Child Nutrition Staff so much. Special thanks to our Derby Day Committee and our CNS who synergized to make so many wonderful memories happen for our families.
Congratulations to Heather Ashby for receiving her Masters’ Degree in Literacy and Meredith Little for receiving her Masters’ Degree in School Administration. We are so proud of you both!
Testing Buddies:
Each year, we like to have every K-2nd grade classroom partner with a 3rd-5th grade classroom during EOGs. The "job" of the K-2nd grade classroom is to cheer on and encourage their upper grade buddy class. Ideas can be Smartie candies, new pencils, banners to put up in the classroom, bubbles, etc. Be creative and let's share school spirit during EOGs. If buddy classes can plan on doing something each day your buddy class participates in testing, it would be greatly appreciated! Your buddy class can be a class you have partnered with this school year or your class's accountability partner!
K-2nd grade teachers, please sign up to be a buddy class here!
EOG testing dates are:
5/26 - Reading EOG (3rd)
5/27 -Math EOG (3rd)
6/1 – Reading EOG (4th/5th)
6/2– Math EOG (4th/5th)
6/3-Science EOG (5th)
Field Day Information:
Field day will be Friday, May 20 (rain date will be Monday, May 23). 3-5 grade events will mainly be on the infield of the track, while K-2 will be on the lower field next to the faculty parking at the front of the school. Students should wear sneakers for safe participation in all activities. Recommended attire to include wearing swim wear (1 piece) with shorts/swim trunks and t-shirt on top (NO FLIP FLOPS OR WATER SHOES). Sunscreen/bug repellent should be applied, if desired, prior to arriving at school. Filled water bottles should be brought by students, or if your class gets a donated case, you are welcome to cart an ice cooler (there will not be water coolers outside for kids to refill). ***Teachers please send an email blast to your students' families which includes the above info. and the following sign up genius link for parents to volunteer to run field day events. Looking for each classroom to provide 2 volunteers (14 total per grade level) to run field day events.
