A Note from Dr. Burdett
For those of you who remember Gomer Pyle, I want to say that I am "Thankful, thankful, thankful!" using the voice of Jim Nabors! What an incredible year it has been so far and this is because of our wonderful community, our incredibly supportive central office and school board, our amazing teachers and staff, and (drum roll please...) our AMAZING STUDENTS!
I wish you could be with me each day to experience the blessings of our 4,095 students and 300 staff members! It fills my cup of gratitude each day. I hope you all have a very blessed Thanksgiving break with friends, family, and maybe some quiet time to yourself!
A special congratulations to Termayne Willie for being Prosper Education Foundation's Star Polisher at PHS for November. Mr. Willie is an incredible teacher who continually goes above and beyond for our kids! It is a joy to see him every day because he LOVES our kids!
Each week we have our Watch D.O.G.s who help support us by monitoring the hallways, opening doors, saying hi to our kids, etc. This week, our Watch D.O.G.s joined in Chef Goodman's class and participated in the Thankful Turkey activity (photo below). We are certainly thankful for all that our Watch D.O.G.s do to support our kids and to add another layer of safety at the school.
Congratulations to our Theater kids on their success at the Texas Thespians Festival (photo below). We received perfect scores for Group Acting, Group Musical, and Stage Management! In addition, we have 20 of our kids who advanced to Nationals-Bravo!!! Below is the final list of our ENN kids who won Lone Star Emmys. Congratulations to each of these incredible kids! We continue to see the talent that is abundant at PHS!
Congratulations to Football on the 54-18 win over Mesquite to move on to the next round of playoffs v. The Woodlands. The game will be at McLane Stadium (home of the Baylor Bears) in Waco at 7 pm on Saturday, November 30th. Basketball and Wrestling continue to be successful early on in the season and I hope you are able to make it out to watch our kids in these sports.
Our next Newsletter will be on Sunday, December 8th. Please look at the calendar and see what you can attend. Our students would love to see you supporting them and noticing how our inputs are affecting our outcomes.

Counseling in the News
College students are about to head home. For many freshmen it will be their first visit back since packing up last August. Thanksgiving, the uber-American family togetherness holiday, can be equally tough for parents and their college students.
Trinity High School senior Kendle Haught was delighted to receive offers to attend both of her colleges of choice. But a major factor in Haught’s final decision about where to pursue her education is the cost and her student debt load. Thanks to a personal finance class she took as a sophomore, she believes she is more prepared to make a responsible decision.
What Is Confirmation Bias? People are prone to believe what they want to believe. Imagine that you have tried to reach a friend with whom you have an ambivalent relationship by phone or email, leaving messages, yet receiving no call in return. In a situation like this, it is easy to jump to conclusions in an intuitive manner that your friend wants to avoid you.
Why Colleges Are Betting Big on Video Games A small Pennsylvania university has only one varsity program: e-sports. Is this the future of college athletics?
