Science Camp Opportunity
Attached, please find a flier and poster for B-WISER Science Camp for middle school girls. Buckeye Women in Science, Engineering, and Research (B-WISER) is a non-profit that began in 1990 and is designed for girls who will be completing 7th or 8th grade. Several scholarships are available for those who qualify for Ohio’s free and reduced school meals program. Financial aid recipients pay just $150 for the week, including room and board.
The camp provides hands-on experiences in physics, chemistry, geology, biology, and engineering. The residential program takes place on The College of Wooster campus from June 18-23, 2023. Please note that this girl-centered program is open to students who identify as a girl in any way. See our website for more information: https://bwiser.spaces.wooster.edu/.
Please post the attached poster for students and share this information with colleagues, especially those involved in 7th and 8th grade science/STEM education. We also ask that you consider including a notice in your school newsletter. I have included a JPG file which is best for emailing students and their families, but for printing, please use the higher resolution PDF files.
I appreciate your help in spreading the word about this special opportunity and encouraging the next generation of women scientists!
Sincerely,
Manon Grugel-Watson (she/her/hers)

Phoenix Middle School Information
Phoenix Middle School Application Now Open
Phoenix Middle School is our district's choice-based middle school for 7th and 8th grade students. All Worthington 6th grade students have the opportunity to apply to enter the lottery for enrollment at Phoenix. Phoenix is a smaller environment ideal for students seeking to find and use their voice to become agents of change. Each student will learn to think critically about their identity, interaction, and impact within and around the world. Through mastery-based learning in our five core pillars of Global Awareness, Intellectual Discipline, Wellness, Creative Expression, and Character, our students grow to reach their maximum potential in and beyond the classroom. If you would like to learn more, you can reach out to our principal, Sean Flynn at sflynn@wscloud.org or you can find additional information in our 6th grade newsletter and website below. We are accepting applications through March 24th at 4 PM at this website https://www.phoenixms.org/index.php/about-about-us/how-to-apply-2023-24.
