McAnally Weekly Update

August 13, 2020

The Principal Post

Hi, I am Josh Jenkins, the new principal of McAnally Intermediate School! The staff and I have been working diligently behind the scenes to make sure your 6th grader gets a "Bearcat Best Start." These are unprecedented times, so thank you so much for you support and grace as we work to provide exceptional experiences for all of our McCats. Over the next few days, we will be sending out information to help you prepare for the first day of school. This will include schedules, hours, what to expect the first day of school, information on Launchpad, and many other things that we know you have questions about. Last night we shared our virtual McCat camp! Check out my introductory video in case you missed it. Here is the link to the full virtual McCat Camp. Let's stay safe, and make McAnally our "School of Dreams."
Jenkins Welcome

Aledo ISD COVID-19 Tracking

Aledo ISD is tracking COVID-19 cases within our school Community. To do this we need your help – if your child ever tests positive for COVID-19 or shows symptoms consistent with COVID-19 or has close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, please click this link to complete our AISD COVID Reporting form. Our data will only be as accurate as what is reported to us. Please help us keep our entire community healthy and safe by providing this information as soon as it becomes known to you. To view the Aledo ISD COVID Dashboard, please click here.
Big picture

The Aledo PTO has organized a Back to School Photo Opp at all campuses since we are limiting visitors and parents will not have the opportunity to come onto campus, including on the first day of school. Outside of each school from August 13-17, there will be a photo opp to take pictures of your Bearcats. The Aledo PTO has also organized a water bottle drive at each photo opp where you can donate new, reusable water bottles to be distributed for students in need at each campus. Please share your Back to School Photo Opp pictures on social media, tag the Aledo ISD and use the hashtag #BearcatsBestStart!

Schedule information is coming soon! The district will send information to secondary parents (grades 6-12) soon letting them know when schedules are ready to view and how to access them.

Meals for Bearcats

The Aledo ISD will be providing meal options for full-time remote-learning students as well as in-person learning students during the hybrid schedule on their remote-learning days beginning on Tuesday, August 18. Meals will be charged to the student’s meal account according to their payment status at the free, reduced or paid meal price. Meals for either three or five days can be picked up from 7-9 a.m. on Tuesdays at either McCall Elementary or the Aledo ISD Police and Technology building (across from Coder Elementary). View complete Meals for Bearcats information here.

Bus Transportation

If you indicated through the InTouch system (when you chose the type of instructional model for your child) that your child needs bus transportation, you have registered for transportation and need to take no further action. We are currently finalizing the construction of routes and will share information about how to access your child’s bus route and pick-up and drop-off times and locations very soon.

Learning Management System

All students in 3rd through 12th grade will use Canvas, whether virtual or in person. We have information on how to login to Launchpad - our single sign on site for students - as well as how to set up a parent observer account in Canvas on our Technology Resources page of the Return to Learn website. Also on that page, you’ll find information on the Remind app, a teacher-parent communication tool used by the district.
