TOPS New Teacher Training
Fall 2020
Welcome new TOPS teachers!
We are so glad to have you onboard! Please add this to your symbaloo and revisit it as it will be updated throughout the fall semester.
Please keep in mind that your new teacher checklist is still your primary tool and focus. This is just a supplement to your checklist to help you navigate when you can complete tasks depending on what you have available (ie, what can I do if I don't have a @k12 email?, I just got my computer, now what?!?, etc.)
Don't hesitate to reach out to me if you need me!

Training tasks that don't require K12.com email address:
If you're still waiting to get your @K12.com email, start here first. :)
Create a Bio slide using PPT or Google slides
My example included for reference. Make sure to include: educational background, teaching experience, fun facts or hobbies about you, and at least 1-2 pictures. Students want to know about you and who you are!
Create a bitmoji
We use bitmojis for communication with parents, students, and teachers. :)
When you have your K12.com email
Create a Zoom account using your K12.com email address
(During the pandemic, educational accounts receive unlimited minutes, so make sure you use your k12.com email and select Texas Online Preparatory School as your school.)
Create a symbaloo account
Sign up for a symbaloo account and save this new teacher webmix for references.
Setting up your computer
First follow all the steps in the document you were sent with your computer. Then, once you have completed that, do the following steps. :)
Skype for Business
**This was formerly called Lync and some staff still refer to it by this name.
Setting up your Outlook signature
In order for the copy/paste to work effectively, you will need to download this document. :)
