ATTENDANCE PROCEDURES/REMINDERS
If your child is going to be absent from school, you are required to call the school absentee line at 847-659-4311 before 9:00 a.m. to report the absence each day.
School policy requires a Doctor written excuse for any student who is absent from school due to illness in excess of 4 days per quarter. It is recommended that you also get a Doctor’s note for all doctor/dentist appointments that you have throughout the school year and turn them into the office.
For students arriving late to school, please leave a message on the school absentee line at 847-659-4311 as to the reason for the late arrival.
For planned absences, such as family vacations during the school year, parents should notify the academic team and the office in writing.
Please review your child’s Heineman Student Handbook for additional information regarding “Absences/Attendance/Tardies”.
AD HOC ITEMS YOU MIGHT WONDER ABOUT . . .
- M, T, TH, F @ 9:04 & 12:49
- W (Advisory Day) @ 9:22 & 12:55
Please remind your student to listen for their name being called; Especially if they've asked you to drop off an item. If your student does not come down, we will try to locate them in class but we always prefer not to disrupt the classroom learning environment.
If you need to pick your student up for an appointment, please send them with a handwritten note to bring to the office first thing in the morning. We will then write them a pass and give it to them right then. If you call AND send a note, we end up seeing your student in the morning with a note and then calling them down later to give them another pass.
If you are dropping off lunch, please make sure you label it clearly with your child's first and last name. Dropping off lunch from the outside is allowed, however it's only for your student. You may not drop off or order food in for groups/friends.
Lunch periods are as follows:
- 6th grade - 11:31-12:01
- 7th grade - 10:43-11:13
- 8th grade - 12:19-12:49

HMS COMMUNITY VALUE APP
Heineman MS's Community Value App
For the second year, 8to18 is excited to offer the Community Value App program for Heineman MS Athletics, its supporters, and families. The Community Value mobile app provides supplemental funds for extracurriculars, provides incredible value/cost savings to Heineman MS families and supporters, and connects local businesses to the school and parents...All through a mobile app.
What it is:
For $25, families and supporters can purchase the Heineman MS Community Value Mobile App, which provides one-year access to local and national deals across the country. The athletics department receives $15 back from every purchase!
How it works:
School community members (and their friends and family) can purchase the 1 yr subscription to the mobile app for $25 by going to the Heineman and filling out the form on the Heineman Landing Page. The mobile app goes straight to your phone where you can start using it and saving $ immediately. You can easily renew in a year and the athletics department continues to receive funds back for renewals.
Funds:
Heineman MS Athletics get $15 per app purchased, regardless of how it's purchased - you can sell/share the app with relatives or fans so that they can all take advantage of the cost savings, and the funds still go back to supporting athletics! Right now we are working towards raising fund for a new tent!
Local Business Participation: Any local business can set up an account and offer coupons for free through the app. And local business coupons are featured at the top of the deal list in the app so supporters see local deals first!
We hope you enjoy the program - the cost savings for your family and the funding for athletics that your purchase allows!
