As previously announced on Friday, September 18:

PreK-12 students will continue with 100% virtual learning for at least the first half of the Second Quarter, from October 13 through November 13.

DPS administration continues to work with principals, teachers, and staff to explore all available options in determining what the remainder of the Second Quarter will look like for students and staff. Another announcement will be made on Friday, October 30, to let DPS families know what to expect for the second half of the Second Quarter, running November 16 through December 18.

School Immunizations & Health Exams DUE by October 15

Even though DPS students are not participating in learning in-person at school right now, the State of Illinois still requires students to get needed immunizations and health exams. The State is not waiving these requirements for the 2020-21 school year.

MORE INFOMRATION:

Call your student's doctor or Crossing Healthcare NOW to schedule an appointment. Parents can schedule the appointment after the deadline but MUST provide documentation by October 15 that the appointment is scheduled.

Return to School Info Needed

A Skyward Family Access Form will be made available for families to provide feedback on if they would choose a hybrid option (students both in-person and virtual) if it were made available. Parents will be notified by a district robocall, email, text, and also announced on all our social media platforms, when the form is available for you to complete.

Has Your Information Changed? Parents, it is vital for you to keep your contact information current to ensure you are receiving important District announcements. Call your school secretary to update your information (phone numbers, email, and address)!

October Heart of the District Winners!

What nominators said about our Heart Award Winners:

Khaidyn goes above and beyond to help his fellow peers when they are struggling and tries to help them out. He is very patient, understanding, and cooperative and helpful during this very difficult time with E-learning. He never gets frustrated when others are having problems he just sits quietly and patiently and waits. He is very attentive and comes ready every morning ready to learn and interact during meets. I appreciate Khaidyn’s hard work it is not unnoticed.

-Nominated by a fellow classmate

Kabedi recently shared a personal story that touched my mind, body, and soul. The story and experience had several principals and participants emotionally taken away and she motivated me even more to ensure ALL students in DPS feel emotionally and physically safe in ALL our school buildings. Her story provided immediate validation that the work align to be culturally responsive climate is needed in DPS and I have made a "Kabedi Vow" that no student will ever experience anything similar to what she described.

Anyone may submit nomination, as long as the nominee is NOT a family member. These awards are not intended to be a popularity contest. Those submitting nominations are encouraged to consider the impact the nominee has on students, staff, and our district community.
