Be a Bee!

We are excited to have author Lynne Brunelle present to our 2nd - 5th grade classrooms next Thursday! She has written the book Turn this Book into a Beehive, which many families have purchased through a pre-order for the event. We thought it would be fun if we were all buzzing on Thursday. We encourage students to wear "bee themed" clothes - black and yellow would be fun!

PTO Elections - Please Note!

With the cancellation of our PTO meeting last week due to inclement weather, it is important that families are aware of the upcoming PTO board election. The 2018/19 PTO elections are coming in May. Current nominees are Kim Smith for President, Chris Adent for Vice President, Nikki Hoch for secretary & Alyssa Ludtke for treasurer. There is still time to nominate someone or yourself. Just submit your nomination to Chris Adent at cadent@inprocorp.comor to the school office.

Also, please let the PTO know if you are interested in chairing any of the committees that organize and run all of the important PTO sponsored community and fundraising events. Your help is welcome and encouraged!

Last Call for Yearbook Orders!

We have extended the deadline for yearbook orders - all orders are due MONDAY, APRIL 23rd. Please make sure you have sent an order form and payment to school by the end of the day on Monday to ensure your purchase has been made.

Mortenson Photography will be at school next Tuesday, April 24th to take candid and group photos. Any student who has participated in a Hillcrest group (5th grade run, Optimist Swim, Scouts, etc) will have their group photo taken for the yearbook. If you would like your child to wear anything specific for this photo (for example, scout uniform or spirit wear) please have them wear it to school on Tuesday.

Staff Apreciation Week

Calling All Families!!

With Staff Appreciation coming up May 7 – 11 if you would like to tell one or all of the staff at Hillcrest that they have made an impact in your child / children’s life now is the time to let them know. Below are three ways in which you can help make this year one of the best.

First, if you would like to donate money (to buy a gift card) or give a gift card (any kind, any amount) that we will use for drawings during staff appreciation week, you can drop it off in the front office or send it with your child marked “Staff Appreciation Donation”.

Second, if you would like to send a note to share something special that happened, how they have helped your child, or just to say “Thank You”, mark the envelope Staff Appreciation with the staff’s name and your family name and send it to school. These will be given to the staff on Friday, May 11th.

Third, if you would like to help with a food donation or on the playground or lunchroom (Tuesdayonly May 8 from 11-12:30) please see the Staff Appreciation Sign Up Genius.

We are fortunate to have a wonderful school like Hillcrest but it’s the staff that makes it great so let’s show them that they ARE appreciated !!!
