UPDATE: Ranger Round-Up Information Site - Virtual Learning On Campus Safety Information
Deerpark MS will look very different this year, so we want all parents and students to be aware of the new expectations that have put in place. These expectations will ensure that our campus can be as safe as possible for our staff and students. We have updated our Ranger Round-Up site in preparation for students returning on campus for virtual instruction on 9/15. We have provided presentations, videos, and detailed information on:
Town Hall Information Session from 9/10
- Campus Safety Expectations
- Arrival and Breakfast Expectations
- Classroom and Lunch Expectations
- Dismissal Expectations
- DMS Campus Safety Q and A Form
Free and Reduced Lunch Forms
Each year we send out information to families and parents regarding applying for free and reduced lunch. This year we have had a significant decline in applications. As a Title 1 campus we receive funding for additional teachers, supplies, and technology based on the number of families that complete this application and qualify. Even if you are keeping your student home for virtual instruction, a lot of our funding comes from these applications. You are also eligible for our breakfast and lunch curbside pick-up throughout the fall semester. Please take a moment to fill out this form, especially if you have applied in the past. We need as many resources and teachers as possible.
To apply for free and reduced price meals, households must fill out an online application at https://foodservices.roundrockisd.org/free-reduced-meals/ or a paper application and return it to the school or Food Services office.
The DMS Yearbook team needs your help!
I know you have been asked to wear many extra hats this year and we have one more to add - YEARBOOK PHOTOGRAPHER! With social distancing rules and virtual learning in place, our yearbook photographers can't be everywhere and we need your help. But, don't worry.... we have an APP for that!
We are asking for teachers, parents and students to install and use Balfour's Image Share app this year to submit photos for the yearbook. There is even a place to enter in WHO is the photo and WHAT they are doing so we know where to use the photo in the yearbook. You can upload photos of virtual learning or any other school events including fine arts and athletics. We want our yearbook to capture the year and we can't do it without you. Once you download and install the Image Share App, you will enter your email address. Then, you will receive an email from Balfour allowing you to create a username and password. Once you log-in, you are ready to submit photos to the yearbook staff. The app will allow you to upload 5 images at a time. Please do NOT upload photos that have been received through a text message or have been downloaded from social media. Those images will not be high enough quality to use in the yearbook. And please be sure the students in the photos attend Deerpark Middle School.
Each month we will be having a contest for a winning photo.
The September photo contest is:
Your social distance set-up.
Please send us a photo of your home learning set-up - with or without you in it.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Schedule Change Reminder
Parents/Guardians and Friends,
Our amazing counselors have been working hard to make the necessary adjustments to schedules. Please do not be alarmed with these changes as schedule changes are common the first few weeks of each school year. In addition, our building of course enrollment for virtual learning is a very fluid process. When changes are made to schedules, it does not update in Home Access Center until midnight. Schoology then needs time to read and convert what changes were made in Home Access Center. Please encourage your Ranger(s) to regularly check Home Access Center to ensure he/she/they are following the most up-to-date schedule.
HOPE AUSTIN - WEEKEND MEAL KITS @ DMS, FNES, JLJES
It is our most heart-felt endeavor to ensure that all RRISD students who are in jeopardy of experiencing food insecurity are provided the health and opportunity that comes hand in hand with the benefits of proper nutrition. At the onset of the pandemic HopeAustin was providing for all RRISD students at the designated curbside spots and continued services through the end of July.
In working with the District in determining how we may serve this school year, we have been given the opportunity to continue our service at the 12 designated RRISD curb-side meal sites. RRISD students may pick up a HopeAustin weekend meal kit from any of the designated sites. We will continue in this manner until we shift operations to fit the needs of your campus once it is determined students may make a safe return to their campus homes. They simply need ask and a RRISD staff member will disseminate one kit per student.
The weekend meal kits may be picked up each Friday (during virtual learning) from 10-12 at one of the locations below:
Deerpark Middle School, 8849 Anderson Mill Rd., Austin: Side of school near cafeteria
Forest North Elementary School, 13414 Broadmeade Ave., Austin: Front of the school
Joe Lee Johnson Elementary, 2800 Sauls Dr., Austin: Front of the school
DMS is a RRISD Meal Distribution Site
Monday - Friday from 10am-12PM the DMS cafeteria will be providing lunches to families. There will be no charge for students that qualify for Free and Reduced meals. Families will be required to pay for meals if they do not qualify for Free meals. Reduced Students will receive Lunch at $0.40. Students who do not qualify for the free and reduced program will receive meals for $3.05. Meals will be provided outside of the cafeteria. There is no need to enter the building.

Dear Parents of 7th Grade Students:
All students are required to have their Tdap and MCV (Meningococcal) vaccines before entering 7th grade. Physicians offices and other medical sites are still providing vaccines at this time, typically by appointment only. Students in a virtual-learning environment are also required to be up-to-date. Please send your records in no later than Sept 10. You may fax them to 512-464-6740 or email christopher_hart@roundrockisd.org. Thank you.
