FJVD Weekly Info

We Live the Word!

From the Principal's Desk

Dear FJVD Families,

Interested in how reopening preparations are moving along at Father Doyle? Curious how things may look on the first day of school? I invite you to view the first video in a continuing series preparing families and students for reopening. In this first video, we review the four essential components of our Reopening Plan - proper hygiene, stable groups, masks/distancing, and staying home when sick. More information will continue to be provided in the days ahead!

Reopening at Father Doyle School - Part I

Public Schools Delay Reopening

As previously communicated, Father Doyle School is currently in the process of determining how the Governor's announcement regarding the delay of public school reopening impacts our school community. We participated in a virtual meeting with representatives from RIDE and other Catholic and independent school leaders this afternoon. This meeting provided some clarity regarding the current situation, and we are optimistic that we will be able to share more information with families by early next week. We appreciate your patience during this uncertain time.

Hybrid Learning Guide

Yesterday we released our Hybrid Learning Guide for Students & Families. This provides more details regarding our plans for students who may need to learn remotely while other students continue learning from the classroom. Please contact the school with any questions.

Our hybrid learning plan is bolstered by the arrival of our brand new Chromebooks! See pictures below!

Reopening Plan Revisions

As noted in an email to families yesterday, the current Reopening Plan has been revised to reflect both the new Hybrid Learning Guide and the release of the Outbreak Response Protocols Playbook designed by the Rhode Island Department of Health in coordination with RIDE. You can view the revised version of the Reopening Plan on our school website, or by clicking the link here: Reopening Plan - Revised 8.13.20

Classroom Supply Lists

All classroom supply lists are now available either through the class websites (visit www.fjvd.org, click the Academics tab, and select your grade), or were sent via mail to families. If you are having difficulty locating your class supply list, please contact the school.

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out if you have questions or concerns regarding the start of the school year. We are looking forward to beginning a new year together!

Have a great weekend everyone.

God bless and Go Saints!

Sincerely,

Mr. Peloquin

Participate in the FJVD Certificate Program!

This program is a great way to reduce the cost of your tuition while supporting FJVDl!

The Process:

  • The school purchases shopping cards from all of your favorite stores
  • You purchase the cards from the school, paying face value and spending the same dollars you would have paid to the stores directly
  • The school earns a percentage discount offered by participating stores.

For each $50.00 you spend, you get a stamp on your Tuition Discount Card. Fill the entire card and redeem it for a $75.00 check!

Cards currently available include:

Stop & Shop, Applebee's, Barnes & Noble, Dave's, Dunkin Donuts, Panera, Wal-Mart and more!

Stop by the school Monday-Friday 7:45am-8:15am, the Rectory Monday-Friday 1:45-2:15pm, or in the Parish Center after the 7:30, 9:30 and 11:30am Sunday Masses to purchase your gift cards!

Aluminum Can Tab Collection

What: Aluminum can tabs are being collected

Why: To support the Ronald McDonald House in Providence

How can you help? Save can tabs and send them in to Mr. Godin’s room.

Bottle Cap Drive

We’re excited to share that our school is part of the Coca-Cola Give program. This provides new funding opportunities to help improve learning environments for students. The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you make Coca-Cola purchases, you simply send in bottle caps or product codes from boxes of beverages and our school receives a donation.

All caps and codes should be sent to Mr. Godin. Codes will be entered on one account to gain larger and quicker donations.

Thank you!
