The Bash Brothers- Wrestling State Champ Spotlight
With so many outstanding athletic performances from Hickman High School Wrestling team during the 2021-22 completive season, two athletic and academic standouts that are returning to the mat this fall are the Benter brothers.
Hank Benter will be starting his sophomore season after placing an emphatic capstone on his freshman season, pinning his opponent in the championship match at 106lbs in the Missouri State High School Wrestling Championship last February. Season highlights for Hank on top of his MSHSAA Championship are 1st Badger State in Wisconsin, 1st Francis Howell North, 1st Marshall, 1st Hickman Tourn., 1st CMAC Tourn., 1st Class 4 Districts, voted 1st Team All-Academic by the Missouri Coach Association earning a 4.0GPA in his freshman year, and voted Wrester of The Year by Boone County.
Hayden Benter not to be out done by his younger brother also put his name on the wall of fame as a champion wrester, pinning his opponent in the championship match at 126lbs in the Missouri State High School Wrestling Championship last February. Season highlights for Hayden throughout his Junior year on top of his MSHSAA Championship are 2nd Badger State in Wisconsin, 1st Francis Howell North, 1st Marshall, 3rd Hickman Tourn., 2nd CMAC Tourn., 1st Class 4 Districts, voted 1st Team All-Academic by the Missouri Coach Association by maintain a 3.90 GPA over the past 3 year in school.
Both bothers have spent the summer improving their skills by attending national tournament and training camps. They are excited and ready for their 2022-23 season knowing that the targets they have placed their backs have been placed there by them and all the hard work and sacrifices they have made. The Bash Brother of Hayden and Hank Benter are eager to defend their titles as one of the best in Missouri from all challengers.

The Hickman Spirit Squad
The Hickman Spirit Squad consists of nearly 70 cheerleaders and dancers for game day spirit this year. The cheerleading squad is coming off a 4th place title at the Gameday State Championship in the Time Out division. The team also placed 1st through 3rd at the State Fair Spirit Classic in the Senior Stunt Group division and there were also two Grand Champions in Stunting and Jumping categories. This season, they also have two competition teams that will compete for another state title. We are looking forward to showing off elite high school skills at various high school events and championships. GO KEWPIES!
Events and Ticket Prices for Friday the 26th at HHS
This Friday is a unique night at HHS. We host a Football game and a Volleyball game at the same time. Our campus will be filled with excitement!
Please note: Due to having two events on Friday the 26th we will be charging one price for admission which will get fans access into VB and FB. This is for Friday the 26th only.
Prices for this Friday the 26th are:

- Students: $5
- Students who have purchased athletic passes can check in at the ticket gates as our workers will have a list with those names.

- Season Outlook: The 2022 team will look a lot different than last season. After graduating 8 starters, there will be a lot of new faces in new places. Luckily for us, we have a lot of talented individuals who have gained valuable experience over the past few seasons that will look to fill those vacated spots. Anchored by an all-state forward and an all-state goalkeeper, this team has the potential to be special once we get comfortable and familiar with each other.

Volleyball
2021 record: 18-13-3
District 8 Champions, lost to eventual 3rd place St. Dominic in Sectionals.

New additions to the Varsity team: Olivia Randolph, Avery Wiswall, Taylin Neuerburg, Stella Forck, Kira Hoenes, Taylor Graham, Kyndra Collier, and Sy’Rae Stemmons.
Our team is excited for the upcoming season and ready to go. We have 9 home matches and 3 home tournaments this season so fans will have lots of opportunities to come out and support and watch our teams perform. Our last home match is senior night and is a match up against last year’s class 3 state champion Blair Oaks on October 18th.

Softball
The Hickman Softball team is coming off a 12-13 campaign from last season. Our staff is looking forward to getting the 2022 fall season started. Coach Haskell is entering her 19th year as head coach and is excited to be back on the field. This team brings back experience at several positions, including 4-year starting short stop Lucy Hurtado, as well as junior Ella Grant. We will rely heavily on senior pitcher Adlen Baker on the mound. Along with this experience, we will have several new faces on the field this season. We have worked hard in the weight room and on the field this off-season to get prepared for this fall. Every game will be a key game for us as we look to improve every game.

Cross Country
- Record from 2021 season (last season) Boys Team qualified for state for the second year in a row. We had 2 girls qualify for state as well as individuals

Girls Golf Program
Top returners: Maggie Alexander, Elly Ross and Sarah Won. Player to watch for this season is Anna Vessell.
We have a solid group of returners from last year with newcomers Nur Maawiy, Deme McBride and Lillian McCormiack will add depth as they continue to improve.
Look for us to play on 9/1/22 against Jeff City, Battle, RBHS, and CIS.
