MPHS Cougar Connection

A Message from the Principal
I hope this email finds your family safe and well. It has been an incredible and unprecedented three months. I want to thank all of you for your support of the school and school district. We have had to make a lot of decisions that have never even been considered before in American public education. I sincerely appreciate your flexibility and willingness to help your children stay engaged and complete their remaining coursework for the spring semester.
We will host a virtual summer school from July 6 through July 31. If your child has an asterisk next to their final grade in PowerSchool, it means that they have not completed the required two out of three modules on Apex and/or Canvas and have not received course credit. They may attend summer school to finish the modules and receive course credit. If your child failed the course as of 3/13 and did not take advantage of bringing up the grade, they may take the course for credit recovery during summer school. Spacing is limited so please reach out to Mr. Forrest or Mrs. Pitts to register your child for summer school.
Due to this spring's unusual circumstances, there is a liberal course withdraw policy in place. If you would like to withdraw your child from a course, please email me ASAP and I will forward to the counselor to complete the course withdrawal.
I have included a link to the VDOE Recover, Redesign, and Restart 2020 plan for the physical reopening of Virginia schools in the fall. There is a lot of important information to be considered. Please know that the safety of students and staff is paramount and we look forward to being able to provide an outstanding instructional program while meeting all safety and health requirements from the CDC and VDOE.
This will be the last newsletter of this school year. I look forward to providing updates throughout the summer regarding the start of the school year and what it will look like at MPHS. Stay tuned!
I wish everyone a happy and healthy summer. Please stay safe and well.
Best,
Pam Kalso, Principal
Final Course Grades in PowerSchool
Online Returning Student Data Verification Is Now Open
Parents of returning students must access the PowerSchool Enrollment online forms through the PowerSchool Parent Portal at https://ps.mpark.net/public. The online forms contain demographic and emergency information you entered last year. You must verify the information is accurate or update any information that has changed. Parents will also electronically sign annual agreement forms for school district policies.
At least one parent is required to create a PowerSchool Parent account. If you have multiple children in Manassas Park City Schools, you must verify information for each student, however only one parent account is necessary.
- If you have created a PowerSchool Parent Portal account in a previous school year, please use that account to log in. Please do not create a new account.
- If you have not created a PowerSchool parent account, directions can be found at https://www.mpark.net/parents/directions-for-parent-portal.
If you have questions about your account, please contact your child’s school for assistance.
The completion of this process is required for all returning students. The online forms are now open. Please complete by July 31, 2020.
