The Eagle News

October 2019

Dear Parents:

Thank you! We had a terrific turn-out at our Curriculum Night held a few weeks ago! It was great to see and talk with so many of you on that evening. As we move through the year, our focus will remain on academic achievement. Please check PowerSchool regularly, or set your account preferences to receive automatic updates from the system in order to stay up to date on your child’s progress. Remember that if you do not have your Parent Portal login and password, you may call the office and arrange for a time to pick it up.

We also had a FANTASTIC turnout and loads of fun at the PTA Back to School Picnic held last Friday evening! The rain did not hamper our evening, and it is always such a terrific community-building event, attended by current Ebeling families, former students, and families who come back each year to mingle with friends and neighbors or serve as volunteers. Don’t forget our next big all school event…and put October 31st on your calendar! Our Halloween Parade will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 31st. We plan to parade outside - weather permitting! Students will attend for a half-day of school on that day, and dismissal will be at 11:29. Because of the timing of our parade, students will be allowed to wear partial costumes to school. Check to be sure that your child can walk freely, and that the costume will be comfortable enough for the classroom setting. Plan to have your child bring any costume props (wigs and other add-ons) to school in a bag or backpack. Look for more information about positive costume choices and plans for that day in this newsletter and upcoming Friday Flyers.

Important upcoming dates on our school calendar are noted below. Also for your planning, the District has published the Elementary School Calendar with timelines through the second marking period (see below). This will be updated when the remainder of the calendar has been determined. In case you are looking for information about CHALK Day, our annual Fall Fundraiser will look different this year! We are in the early planning stages for holding a Spring Fundraiser this school year. More information will come once we get closer to the date!

Mark your calendars for Parent Teacher Conferences: November 12th (4:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.), and November 14th (12:30 pm to 3:30 pm and 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm). We will be using SignUp Genius again this year for parents to schedule their own conferences within our conference window. Please be on the lookout for SignUp Genius information to come home in a few weeks.

Thank you for your continued involvement in your child’s education!

Ebeling's Halloween Celebration

Our all-school Halloween parade will be on Thursday, October 31st, at 9:30 AM. Parents are invited to attend. The parade will take place outside on the blacktop around the building. In the event of inclement weather, tables and seats will be set up in the gym and research center for parents to view the parade. Classroom parties will be held immediately after the parade, unless otherwise noted by the teacher.

At school, all students must refrain from violent characterization and from using any kinds of fake weapons, fake blood, or any references to victims or perpetrators of violence. Violent characterization is unacceptable for school parades where younger students might be frightened. Book, cartoon, folk heroes, historical figures, and period costumes are all good ideas to consider when thinking of the perfect costume. If you have any questions regarding suitability, please contact the school at 797 - 4700.

October 31st is a half-day for all students at Ebeling. Dismissal will be at 11:29 a.m. Because of the timing of our parade, students will be allowed to wear partial costumes to school. Check to be sure that your child can walk freely, and that the costume will be comfortable enough for the classroom setting. Plan to have your child bring any costume props (wigs and other add-ons) to school in a bag or backpack.

Looking forward to a great Halloween celebration!
