At-Home Learning Information
At-Home Learning 2018-19
Dear Staff,
Thank you to all staff who attended the special staff meeting about at-home learning yesterday. As you all know, we had three weather related closures this school year. We have been working on a plan to make up these days with the least amount of disruption to our calendar. It has been complicated as the laws continue to be reviewed by the state and there has been uncertainty about how districts will be allowed to move forward. At this time, we have determined that we can make up the three days with at-home learning/activities over a period of time and keep our last day of school attendance for students June 6 and last day for staff June 7.
Both staff and students will participate in the at-home activities in order for the district to not have to add in-school days to the end of the school year. The MOUs were created in collaboration with GEEA and AFSCME and approved by the Board Monday night at the regularly scheduled Board meeting. It is important to note that these agreements are only for this 2018/19 school year and only cover the three days that were currently missed. We expect the grading calendar to remain the same. If the district closes again before the end of the school year, communication will be sent about how and when the day will be made up.
Click here for the presentation shared at the staff meeting yesterday. Here are a few key points from the MOUs:
Students
Classroom teachers will provide work from the multiple subject areas they teach that equate
to 5 hours of participation for each of the three days missed. These hours are subject to modification based on age and functionality of the students. The work will be assigned to the students on March 22 and will be due to be submitted back to the teacher or staff member on or before April 22. Teachers will grade, record and assess the work and return it to the students in a timely manner. Recording the work in Skyward will be how the students will be counted present for the day.

Teachers will be given a google form for each emergency day already taken (January 28, 30 and 31) and any additional days taken in the 2018-19 school year. The google form will be completed after reading an article or watching a video and responding to a prompt. The work will be assigned on March 22 by the Principal and will be due to be submitted on or before April 22. The work must be completed outside of the normal workday or during the duty free lunch time. A timestamp will be created with each response to ensure it is outside of the work day. This is a directive for all employees to complete the assignments; an employee will be subject to discipline if it is not submitted on or before April 22. This work is to make up any emergency days taken during the 2018-19 school year, no additional pay will be provided for the e-learning days and activities as required above.

AFSCME 10 month, 10+ month and 11 month employees will be given a google form for each emergency day already taken (January 28, 30 and 31) and any additional days taken in the 2018-19 school year. The google form will be completed after reading an article or watching a video and responding to a prompt.
