Principal's Message

What a beautiful spring week this has been here at CCS! Students and staff are able to get outside as the weather warms up, windows are open, and the sun is making our shrubs, flowers, and trees really show off their spring beauty.

We will be updating the school-wide calendar on our website as more events are added, so be sure to check this often.

New this week, we have instituted extra masks breaks as we head into the remainder of the school year. Students will be given a minimum of two 5 minutes breaks before and after lunch each day. Many teachers have also been adding extras beyond the minimum as well. Students will still be required to wear masks at recess, unless a distance of greater than 6 feet can be maintained.

In the coming weeks, please be on the lookout for communication from the technology office about returning student chromebooks and other technology equipment as we prepare for summer.

Thank you to our parents, community, and school board that have remained incredibly supportive throughout the last year. We are excited to celebrate all of the wonderful spring events, trips, and celebrations with our students and families as we begin to wrap up the last month of the 2020-2021 school year.

Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns that you may have.

Have a wonderful weekend!

STEM Challenges in Mrs. Hunt's First Grade Class

Mrs. Hunt’s first grade students have been participating in STEM challenges throughout the month of May. They listened to a fiction story, identified the problem and used the engineering design process to solve the problem from the story. They have made a mouse carrier to carry the mouse from Splat the Cat and constructed a building after reading Iggy Peck Architect. Their growth mindset, collaboration skills and problem solving skills have been impressive!

4th Grade Takes Cursive Practice Outside

Mrs. Binder's 4th graders took their cursive practice outside earlier this week. They used sidewalk chalk to practice their writing.

Updates from the Chichester PTO

The PTO just had their first meeting on May 19th here on the CCS playground. They had a great first meeting, and there is a lot of enthusiasm for future events. The next meeting will take place on June 2nd at 6pm on the CCS playground, and they would love to have you join them. Planning will begin for summer and fall events, including our annual Back to School BBQ in August. Be sure to check out their Facebook page for updates, upcoming events, and way to get involved!

Baby chicks are coming to kindergarten! 🐣

Chicken eggs are growing in the incubator again in Mrs. Rowe's class right now. The new technology we received this year for remote learning is coming in very handy for this particular science unit. Using their new document camera to project the image onto the smart tv, the kids are able to get a larger than life look inside the eggs as they grow. It is such an exciting experience for the kids (and it never gets old for their teacher)!

CCS Cafeteria News!

Be sure to check out our breakfast and lunch menus attached below. Our food service kitchen is serving up some yummy offerings! As a reminder, breakfast and lunches are free for all students until the end of June. Your child can sign up for lunch each day with their teacher. Please contact Ravonne Eccleston, our Food Service Director, with any questions that you may have.
