Facility and Grounds - Safety Drills
Safety drills are practiced throughout the year, which include:
- Fire drills
- Law enforcement drills
- Severe weather drills
- Bus drills
- Evacuation with Relocation drill
An evacuation with relocation drill is done annually and practiced with a different school every year as part of our emergency operations plan.
This year, the parent-student reunification process was added to the relocation drill practiced by staff and students at Wegner School. Thank you to the parents who participated in this drill. It allowed District 33 staff to walk through the reunification. We want to be proactive in the case of an actual emergency that requires relocation. We use common terminology with a standard reunification plan as part of the DuPage ROE safety task force and NISSAA (Northern Illinois School Safety Administers Association). As a county, the goal is to have common terminology, a standard reunification plan, and mutual aid between school districts.
District 33 is grateful to all the agencies for working with District 33 continually improve our procedures: West Chicago Police, West Chicago Fire, Dupage Sheriff, Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, Winfield Fire dept, and West Chicago Park District for hosting us.
