News and Information - JUNE 2022

GHS Principal Mr. Ralph F. Mayo

Dear GHS Parents,

It is hard to believe that this school year is coming to a close and that this is the last newsletter you will receive until September. Graduation will be celebrated on Thursday, June 23rd at 5:00 pm in Cardinal Stadium. The Office of Student Activities has sent out additional information on our ceremony, if you are a senior parent and you haven’t received it please contact Karen Foster. This is always a great day for our school, our parents, staff and community and we are looking forward to celebrating this occasion with all of our constituents. Our seniors have persevered through 27 months of a devastating pandemic. Many different roadblocks were placed in their paths, but they still managed to excel in the classroom, on the athletic fields, on stage and in the arts. They are amazing young adults who will shape the future of our great country. We wish them success wherever their future takes them.

I look forward to the return of all of our students this fall and wish you a wonderful, relaxing and safe summer. See you all in September!

As always if you have any questions or concerns please contact your child’s house office. My office is also available as well.

Each month this newsletter goes out to all parents with news and updates from around GHS. It will also be posted on our GHS Info page "News at GHS" on the website. It is available in both English and Spanish. Any timely news or emergency information will be sent in a separate notification.

Sincerely,

Ralph F. Mayo

NEWS FROM THE WORLD LANGUAGE DEPARTMENT.....

The Chinese classes celebrated the Clear Spring festival. Traditionally, Chinese people go on spring outings with their families. Our Chinese students went to Chinatown together. We learned about the stories of Confucius and Sun Yat-sen. We enjoyed the spring flowers, Chinese food and visited the Mahayana Temple in Chinatown. May is also the AAPI (Asian Pacific American Islanders) month. We hosted a photo contest and here's a picture of one of the winners.
