News and Updates from Burton Street Elementary
February 2023
I hope you are staying warm on this chilly Friday! February is a short month that will fly by! We have turned the corner and are half way through the school year - which seems crazy! Report cards will be going home on Monday (due to the snow day). Please do not hesitate to reach out to teachers if you have questions or concerns regarding the report card or AIMSweb Plus results.
An enormous thank you to the Burton Street PTA for sponsoring the mobile planetarium to come to Burton Street! The planetarium is a state of the art, digital experience inside of an inflatable planetarium dome. All students kindergarten through fourth grade will have the opportunity to experience the planetarium and learn! Astronomy objectives are built into National and State Science Standards and this is a fantastic learning experience for our students! The planetarium will be at Burton Street on February 9th and for three days in May. It is sure to be a big hit! Thank you PTA!
Thank you all for your continued support - we look forward to seeing you this week at Open House!
Stay warm,
Mrs. Kara May

Thank you for Your Cooperation for a Quicker Student Drop Off
The new procedures to student drop off have been effective and we appreciate your support!
Students arriving after 8:10 will need to be signed into the building through the main office. Students cannot be dropped off if there are not school staff members outside. If you do not see a staff member outside for arrival, please pull up to the front of the building and sign your child in at the main office.
Please note the following:
Students are to get out of their vehicle if the car is stopped from the front of the sidewalk (closest to the loading dock) to the end of the sidewalk that wraps around the building (closest to the soccer fields). There is a staff member in the parking lot area that supervises or escorts children to the far sidewalk and there is supervision along the sidewalk. Unless arrangements have been made for your child to get out at the front of the sidewalk, please let your child out of the vehicle where you happen to stop in line and a staff member will help if needed.
Students are to get out of the car on the passenger side.
Adults do not need to get out of the vehicles to help children. There are staff members ready to help, should your child need help with their backpack or belongings.
Students cannot be dropped off if there are not school staff members outside. If you do not see a staff member outside for arrival, please pull up to the front of the building and sign your child in at the main office.
