Parent Information
I also want you to be aware that the students do have enough time in class to complete most all assignments and/or were given plenty of advance notice of an assignment to be completed entirely at home. If your child is having a lot of homework from English class, it is most likely because they aren't managing their time well in class, or are procrastinating on getting started. The students are very distracted by their cell phones, despite the fact that the rule is they must ask before they use them. In addition, I find them on games, watching movies, or in chat rooms on their chrome books or cell phones, instead of doing their classwork; and sometimes they are just chatty. I do walk around the room and redirect them, but I'm sure I don't catch them all. You may want to discuss time management and distractions with your child if you notice they are bringing a lot of English work home.
My goal is to give these students a strong foundation for their future AP Language and Literature classes, and ultimately the AP test. In order to adequately prepare them, this class must be rigorous, but I also want it to be manageable.
Please email me if you have any questions.
