Connect Your Community: Hold an Event!
Impact Hub flourished on the idea of gathering like-minded changemakers in a common space. VIA Enlight Fellows will act as Event Hubs of their local communities to achieve these purposes:
Broaden awareness of local social issues through VIA’s alumni network;
Share concepts and knowledge learned in ESI (open innovation, design thinking, empathy, luck etc) with the local community; and
Deepen connections between you and the local community
- Introduce future social innovators to upcoming VIA programs
Please create an original event idea and hold this event your local community before November 8. The next ESI program will be held Feb 9-20 and the first deadline will be Nov 15--please leave a few minutes in your event to share your ESI experience and information for students interested in joining the next program. VIA wants to support you through the process of developing your event. Therefore, please email two versions of a short proposal to Yi that includes:
event topic
approximate date
potential location/venue
target audience
approximate # participants
If you need a thought partner, extra team members, ask for help! Seek out ideas and support from past ESI participants within your community to brainstorm and hold this event. Here are some possible ideas for events:
Proaction or Social Issues Cafe
Introduction to Design Thinking Workshop to tackle a particular challenge
Unconference: What can we do to build a stronger VIA Alumni community?
Your own idea! Could be at a physical location or a virtual session
After the event, please share an update with a brief summary, # attendees, email list and photos or video. Here are slides from the storytelling workshops. More information will be released at a later date. Meanwhile, have fun with the journey, changemakers! Don’t forget to trust the process!
