Music in Our Schools Month!

March is "Music in Our Schools Month!" We are exploring many paths of musical learning this month. Our second & third graders performed the play "Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People's Ears?" Select fifth grade students are performing in The 12th Annual Elementary Honors Choir. We also had parents, students, and teachers gather for multicultural folk dancing during our Crozet Community Night. Below are highlights of our our learning:

Second & Third Graders Perform "Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People's Ears?"

Our second & third graders performed the play "Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People's Ears?" on Tuesday March 8th. This is a West African Folk Tale about a mosquito telling a lie that turns into a big problem for African jungle animals. Our tale of honesty had instruments, movement, speakers, and costumes. We also collaborated with Art and classroom teachers to create art based on resources and cultural traditions of West Africa.

Crozet Elementary Community Night

On Thursday March 17th, our school hosted Community Night. The purpose of this event is to showcase student learning and further build our connections with families and our community. Community is defined as a group of people that interact and support each other. As part of our community building, we had multicultural folk dancing in the music room with Mrs. Brown, Ms. Laine, and Mr. Laird. We performed dances from The United States, Russia, France, and Mexico. Below are snapshots of our community building fun with parents, teachers, and students!
