Parent Notes Replinished
With the start of the second semester comes a new batch of parent notes to be used for student absences. As a reminder, the new CCS Attendance Policy provides four (4) parent notes per semester to excuse student absences not otherwise excused in the CCS policy. If you used one or more parent notes during the first semester, your 'balance' is back to four (4).

CCS COVID PROTOCOLS UPDATED
Below are a few reminders to help slow the spread of COVID-19 in our schools, as well as a change to our protocol for students who may test positive for COVID-19:
- Do not send your child to school if they are experiencing COVID-like symptoms such as fatigue and tiredness, fever, new cough, congestion, runny nose, etc.).
- Although not currently required, it is strongly recommended that your child wear a mask or facial covering while indoors and in situations when he/she cannot maintain six feet separation from others.
- Encourage your child to wash their hands frequently.
- If you suspect your child may have COVID-19, see your health provider for possible testing and next steps.
- UPDATED PROTOCOL - Beginning Thursday, January 6th, students with COVID-19 should be isolated from school and school activities for 5 calendar days from onset. If they are asymptomatic or if their symptoms are resolving (without fever for 24 hours) they may return to school and school activities after 5 calendar days, but it is strongly recommended that they wear a mask the following 5 calendar days to minimize the risk of infecting other students they may encounter.

#BettyWhiteChallenge
January 17 marks Betty White's birthday. The actress would have turned 100. To honor her memory and her advocacy for animals, a social media challenge has been created: #BettyWhiteChallenge. The virtual event asks fans to donate $5 to a local animal shelter. If you participate by donating money, pet food, or supplies to the Cullman County Animal Shelter, post a picture and tag us so that we can share our East Beasts supporting the community animal shelter. Who knows, you might meet your new family pet when visiting the shelter.
