How About These Hawks!!

Thank you to all those who were able to make it to our student-led conferences in October! We had over 98% of our families participate and have had a few more do make up conferences since. This partnership between home and school is invaluable in helping our students not only be successful academically, but to know that they are cared for and have adults on their side. We will have another round of student-led conferences coming up in March, but feel free to reach out to us if you have questions, insights, or any great ideas throughout the year.

As part of that collaboration, we are hoping to get your input in the next couple of weeks using a survey that we put together. In the hopes of getting to know our families and community even better, we're asking our families and caregivers to provide us with information regarding celebrations and traditions that you observe. Teachers have sent home paper copies for our families and caregivers to fill out, but here is a digital copy that you can either:

1. Make a digital copy and fill it out then share with your students teacher via email.

2. Print a copy and fill it out then send it with your student to hand to their teacher.

3. If you have already fill this out and returned, don't worry about this request.

We appreciate you giving us your time and insight!

Please continue to take a look at the information and resources below including the upcoming events and dates for your calendar. Hope to see you soon at our Fall Festival at Hedden tonight from 5:00 to 6:30.

Kind regards,

Don Sims

November is Native American Heritage Month throughout the US. While it is great to include various perspectives and resources that represent all within our community throughout the year, this month we do focus on the inclusion of Native American history and perspectives. Here are a few resources that you may want to check out for yourself or to us in conversation with your student.

Veterans Day is coming up next week and our very own Ms. Keeler has organized a student led assembly for Thursday, 11/10. An invite has gone home to families inviting Veterans of all branches to join us during the assembly. During the assembly we will have an opportunity for each Veteran to introduce themselves, state their branch of service and rank, and to acknowledge the student they belong to here at Hedden. The assembly will run from about 9:30 until 10:15. Veteran's joining us should arrive around 9:15.

Whether you are able to join us or not, I want to say thank you to all those who have served our country for your duty and sacrifice.
