Ken Ludwig's Midsummer/Jersey

Our fall drama had a record number of audience members attend: 180 on Friday October 12 and 260 on Saturday October 13! Thank you for coming out to support this fun night of theatre. Audiences especially enjoyed the 6 minute dance break that ended the first half of the show! We also appreciate your donations during intermission. We're happy to be part of such a supportive community.

Field Trip to GCC - The Bakkhai

On Thursday October 18, sixteen Drama Club members traveled to Genesee Community College to attend their final dress rehearsal of Euripides The Bakkhai. We also had a talk back with the director and actors after the performance. It was a great opportunity to see a college campus, talk with current theatre (and non-theatre) majors, and see a piece of Greek theatre that is rarely produced. We had some great discussions in the days that followed.

NY Thespians Conference Day

On Saturday October 20, Isabella Bailey and Medina VanDuyne (along with Emily Howard) attended a day long conference/workshop for theatre students sponsored by the New York chapter of the Thespian Society. The event was held at Marcus Whitman High School and featured workshops for students and theatre teachers exploring the theme of "home" and "goals". Sessions were interactive and required students to use their body for storytelling, create relationships in mini-scenes, and explore how arts can be an avenue for discussing current events. Always great to have our students interact with other theatre students and know they are part of a larger arts community. #Goals

Field Trip to FLCC - Little Shop of Horrors

Finger Lakes Community College opened their final dress rehearsal of Little Shop of Horrors to area high school groups. On Thursday November 15, (in a snowstorm! Thank you, Mr. Cook and our Newark Bus Garage for allowing us to attend!) twenty one Drama Club members braved the snow and attended Act 1 of Little Shop. Due to the weather we couldn't stay past intermission, but we look forward to future ways to explore and grow the partnership with FLCC's Theatre Department! Another fantastic opportunity to see theatre in action on a college campus.

Field Trip to RBTL - Les Mis

Drama Club members attended the Saturday November 24 afternoon performance of Les Miserables presented as part of the RBTL Season at the Auditorium Theatre in Rochester. Always a crowd favorite, Les Mis provided some engaging conversation for our bus ride home. It was particularly exciting to hear our students observe and comment on production elements such as light design, costumes and sets. Another great observation was the commitment of the ensemble as they worked to build believable and interesting characters and relationships in different scenes throughout the piece - and that we could recognize that even sitting in the very last row of the theatre!
