A Message From Heather Patterson, GRHS Principal

Happy Sunday GRHS Longhorns,

We have been back a week and now it's time to settle in for the second semester. Yes, COVID has thrown us another curve ball, but please do not lose sight of the goal. We still have an entire semester to go, so you can't take your foot off the gas pedal just yet. You still need to earn the needed credit to graduate (or be promoted to the next grade) so YOU must put in the effort it takes to do that. School is not over, so this part is up to YOU. It will take heart, responsibility, and true "stick-with-it-ness"...but I believe in you, so let's make it happen Longhorns! Find your groove....and let's Goooooo!

FIRST OF ALL...THANKS TO THE MAJORITY OF OUR CAMPUS THAT IS CONSISTENTLY WEARING YOUR ID DAILY! YOU ARE APPRECIATED!

FOR THE REST OF YOU...There is no excuse NOT to have your NEW ID on at this time, as they were passed out through all lunches this past week for anyone that was missing one. If you were NOT missing yours, we are delivering your backup to your 4th period class this week. Helpful tip, put this one somewhere safe, for when you forget or misplace the one you are currently wearing, as your back up plan!

If you do not have one at this point, (because you have lost BOTH of them that we gifted you) you will need to purchase a new one for $5 in the library from 8:00-8:15am.

If you choose not to, there will be a HOLD placed on your account for the end of year. (exemptions/graduation/final grades, etc)

  • REMEMBER: NO ID ON = No Phone/Airpods/Headphones! ID's are mandatory! No more temporaries will be issued. If you need a NEW ID/Lanyard- can be purchase for $5 in the library from 8:00-8:15 daily! Lanyards/ID's should be on the second you step through the doors each day. Please make sure you are following this rule as well as being in dress code and to ensure that you are not written up for non compliance.
  • WHY ID's? It's a safety and security thing. It makes you easily identifiable to ANY STAFF MEMBER (there are 220 adults in this building each day and not all of them will know you or vice versa) in case of an emergency. Thanks for helping us keep YOU safe. It's our job, so your cooperation is appreciated.

The front office is open daily Monday- Friday 8:00-4:00pm to assist you. You can also directly email us or call 832-223-4200 during the same hours. We are happy to help!

REMINDERS FROM PREVIOUS WEEKS!

Behavior Reminders!

  • No ID = NO PHONE USE (even at lunch) If you refuse to put them up, it's a write up.
  • Phones must be put away at all times in the classrooms, unless there is an instruction purpose GIVEN by the teacher and the sign is on GREEN. If you refuse to follow this, it will be a write up.
  • Ignoring teachers/staff when they are asking you to put on ID or to put your phone up will be a write up. (That's just disrespect)
  • In the hallways without an ID AND a pass during class time, will be a write up. Parents- if you wonder why grades are slipping...it's their personal devices and lack of urgency to participate in class.
  • Instigating, participating, or videoing an altercation (regardless of how small) will be a write up. If you are part of a fight, you will be placed at ALC.

Let me say...that you are BETTER than this, but the lack of respect (post COVID) that many are showing is not fair to the MAJORITY of our Longhorns and Staff that are here putting in the work each and every day. Do better...because you ARE better!
