Health & Wellness
December 6th, 2021
Hello D6 staff!!
Vaccine Clinics, Here & There We are currently working on the final details for a vaccine clinic. It will be open to all staff, students, and families ages 5 and up. You can begin your vaccine series, get a second dose, or get your booster. Details will be sent out once this event is finalized. The anticipated dates for this clinic are January 8th and January 29th. In the meantime, there is a variety of places that you can schedule an appointment to receive your vaccines. The Zion Benton Library will be hosting a vaccine clinic on December 18th, 2021. A link for vaccine.gov is below, you can use this to find places offering the vaccine near you. The flyer for the clinic at the library is also linked below. | Vaccine Boosters A booster shot is recommended for anyone 18 years of age and older after the completion of primary vaccination.
You can receive a booster shot from a different company than your primary vaccines. Example, if you received the Moderna vaccines for dose 1 & 2, you can get the Pfizer booster shot. It is important to know that at the 2 month or 6 month point (depending on your vaccine) your immunity declines and you are much more susceptible to COVID-19 than when you first received your vaccine. | Testing Testing will continued to be offered every Wednesday in the schools as well as at the District Office. We now will accept home tests for proof of the weekly testing that is required for unvaccinated staff. Please take a picture of your home test and submit that to your building nurse, if this is the route you chose for your weekly testing. Home tests will not be accepted for symptomatic staff that requiring testing prior to returning to work to rule out COVID-19. Weekly testing can also be done somewhere other than at the school. If the site you choose to use does PCR testing, you may return to work while you wait for the PCR test results. This applies only to those using this for the required weekly testing for unvaccinated. Symptomatic staff is still required to wait for results before returning to the building. PCR tests are the gold standard is COVID-19 testing and is recommended for any symptomatic staff. Please note that many testing sites do not have rapid tests at this time and the return time on PCR testing can be up to 5 days right now. This is due to the high volume of tests being administered over the past several weeks. |
