Tēnā koutou e te Whānau
A HUGE THANK YOU for making Wednesday’s strike day a momentous occasion. It was great to see so many teachers at early morning demonstration points throughout Taranaki and at the march through New Plymouth. We estimated we had 1200 - 1300 people in the march which is amazing. It was great to see so many children joining in and being part of making history. We really do appreciate your support for the future of education in New Zealand.
We had an amazing teacher only day with Bek Galloway on Monday. We focused on deep thinking skills and ideas to make Literacy visible in hubs. Bek is an inspiring and practical person to work with. She will be back to work with our teachers in their hubs in Week 10. Thanks again for making alternative arrangements for your children.
Upgrade of Footpaths and Stormwater on Tukapa Street
Downer Construction Team are beginning a Tukapa street upgrade on Tuesday June 4. In front of Frankley School, Tukapa Street up to Frankley Road will be open with one way access up the hill. You will not be able to drive down Frankley road to access the school. There is signage for a detour at the top of Frankley Road. This work is planned to run through to August. There will be no parking on the grass area on Tukapa Street up to Frankley Road. Please talk to your children about safety near roadworks. Thanks in advance for your patience.

NGĀ KUPU O TE WIKI
This week’s kupu is ‘Horoi o ringaringa’, which means ‘wash your hands’. This kupu can definitely be used at home and at school! Next week’s kupu is ‘turituri’ which means ‘please be quiet’. This too is a helpful phrase to use in the classroom or at home. Give them a go, see how many times you or your tamariki can use them - Kia kaha te Reo Māori - keep our Māori language alive!
WHĀNAU PUANGA WHAKANGAHAU AT MURU RAUPATU MARAE
We are very excited to let you know that this year to celebrate Puanga (the Māori New Year) we are once again heading out to Muru Raupatu for a noho marae (sleepover) and celebration day with a delicious hāngī to finish it off. The whole school will attend the celebration day and those whānau that would like to stay the night with their children can do so. An information notice will be sent out shortly with more details. For the moment, save this date - Tuesday 25th June to stay the night, Wednesday 26th June – Celebration Day.
