West Middle School: Community Support from Shelbyville First Baptist
West Middle School Warrior faculty and staff would like to send a very loud THANK YOU to these ladies and to the kind folks at Shelbyville First Baptist for feeding us a wonderful meal on Friday. Shelbyville First Baptist adopted our school this year and we have received notes of encouragement, cards, gifts, delicious meals and an overwhelming amount of support. Thank you for making this school year even sweeter!

Kentucky Derby Festivities Wright Elementary and Northside Early Childhood Center students got the chance to celebrate our Good Ole' Kentucky Home's favorite weekend with Derby Hat Day. Check out our Facebook for more pictures of our fantastic students. | ATC Future Careers Inspired Living is demonstrated as students sign for future careers. Congrats to our dental students who signed to work with local dentists. Daisy Sanchez with Integrity Dentistry; Kaelin Koppell with Mortenson’s Dentistry in Jeffersontown; MacKenzie Bruner with Braces, Braces, Braces; Alondra Gonzalez with Mortenson’s West. Congrats to all and special appreciation to Ms. Becky Clark, their instructor, who works to make community connections and build opportunities for our students. | Personalized Learning Days "Shark Tank" TAG students at East Middle School presented their ideas for new products, budgets, and designs to other students, parents and staff. Dr. Jennifer Cox was there to give feedback. Students asked and answered questions about their products. They callied this learning opportunity “Shark Tank!” It is helping students develop the competencies of the Profile of a Graduate such as Collaboration, Lifelong Leaning, Effective Communication and more. |

West Middle School STLP Two students created videos to help parents understand technology. Their coach is Erin Dennis. The student's project made it to the state competition. | Heritage Heroes: Heritage STLP Heritage STLP students created a program known as Heritage Heroes. They made it to Level 3 at the state. Their coach is Gi Boylen. | MCMS STLP students MCMS STLP students made it to state. They made it to Level 3 and were runners-up in the Broadcast Challenge. Emily Northcutt is their coach! Daniel Northcutt is a volunteer! |

STUDENT & STAFF SPOTLIGHT
Southside PLDSouthside Elementary fifth graders presented their defenses of learning on our last personalized learning day of the year. They did an excellent job being effective communicators. Fourth grade students went to the FAC to put their PE skills to the test with pickleball and tennis. Thanks to Ms. Fitzpatrick and Ms. Cathcart for making this fun experience happen. | MLCHS Vex Congratulations to MLCHS VEX Robotics Team 3217H! They finished in the Quarter Finals. They are also bringing home the Think Award! Way to go. | SCHS Defenses of Learning Shelby County High School students presented their Defenses of Learning on Friday, May 6th. Students present evidence about their learning based on the competencies of the Profile of a Graduate. Congratulations to those seniors, 8th graders, and 5th graders across the district who have finished their Defenses over these past couple weeks. |

SCPS Summer Enrichment Program
Shelby County Public Schools announces our Summer Enrichment Program - Expedition #IL3! SCPS is excited to offer summer enrichment opportunities for currently enrolled SCPS students! Our teacher, students, and staff have planned varied offerings throughout the summer months to enrich students learning, leading, and living! All sessions are free to current SCPS students.
Visit www.shelby.kyschools.us and look for the #IL3 document. There are clickable links to enroll. Find an expedition that you love. Check the dates and grade range. Click on the link and complete the google form to register for your expedition. The teachers leading each expedition will contact you via email with further information! Have fun and enjoy the adventures!
