Hydrogen
By: Ann Clare Thachil
Introduction
It is the most abudant chemical element on earth. It is the simplist element on the periodic table with one proton and one electron . It's atomic mass is 1.01, making it the lightest element. The physical properities of hydrogen is that it is oderless, and colorless gas . It is found in the air and between the stars. It also changes from gas to liquid at -252.77 celsius and liquid to gas at -259.2 celsius. Its chemical properties are that it burns with oxygen to make water. Also, hydrogen combines with non-metals such as sulfur, phosphorus, and the halogens. Through the process of fusion, hydrogen atoms are squessed together to make fuel for stars. Some common compounds of hydrogen are H2O, NH3, CH4, C12H22O11, and H2O2. The isotopes of this element are H-1, H-2, and H-3. Hydrogen is very reactive with other elements because it has one electron and it shares it with other elements.
