Minfulness
Mindfulness. Being present in the present. "The ability to be present in each moment is nothing more and nothing less than the ability to accept the vulnerability, discomfort, and anxiety of everyday life," quotes Elena Aguilar in her book, Onward (2018, p. 125.) Face uncertainty. Question where you will go from here. Find your focus. During the month of October, Aguilar suggests using mindfulness and reflection to align our actions with our aspirations and core beliefs. Find yourself thriving. Turn self-doubts into actions that help us "Find more joy in this life, in one another and in our work as teachers and leaders, and how we can create the conditions in which others experience joy" (140.)You may or may not have heard that Kid President is returning! Brad and Robby have found great joy in what they've been doing... and NOT doing... for the past seven years. Mindful of where they were heading, where they wanted to be, and where they need to be, they are planning an adventurous, fun filled return for followers across the nation. Check out the YouTube link below to learn how they plan to create conditions in which others experience joy! Your challenge: throughout the next two weeks, take time to notice moments of joy, contentment or happiness. Pause to savor the moments, allowing the awareness of those moments to sink in. After all, you deserve it. Our kids deserve it. What can you do to share those feelings of contentment and joy?

Paynesville Area Schools Celebrate National School Lunch Week
“School Lunch Playlist” highlights #NSLW19
(Paynesville, MN) – September 24, 2019 – To recognize the National School Lunch Program, serving 30 million children each day, Paynesville Area Schools will celebrate National School Lunch Week from October 14-18, 2019. The theme, “School Lunch: What’s on Your Playlist,” spotlights how today’s school cafeterias are serving up healthy menu items that kids want to eat, with increased choice and customization.
National School Lunch Week will highlight the nutritious foods available daily at Paynesville Area Schools. 5th Grade students will name menu items each day; we are also hoping to provide musical entertainment during each day's lunch. Paynesville Area Schools' Food Service Program will join the efforts of our National Farm to School Month by providing apples for National Crunch Day, a day where students across the country bite into an apple at exactly the same time. The nation-wide date is October10th; due to conferences the event will be held at Paynesville Area Elementary October 14th at 1:25. Please encourage your child to wear green or red for the event.
“School lunches offer students fruits and vegetables, whole grains and milk, and meet federal nutrition standards limiting fat, calories and sodium,” said Laurie Nepsund, Food Service Head Cook. “National School Lunch Week helps us educate parents and students about all the benefits of our lunch program and the appealing variety of choices in the cafeteria.”
