Dear Madison Community,
As the second trimester comes to a close, it is hard to believe we are headed into the final stretch as we race through another fantastic school year! I’ve heard Madison School described as a well-oiled machine too many times to count. I wonder what “well-oiled machine” you visualize when this metaphor is used at our school. For me, I always imagine my brother’s 1970 Pontiac GTO racing down a country highway. Yes, we are racing toward the finish line this school year, but there is so much work that we, the drivers and pit crew, do along the way to keep our muscle car running smoothly.
For one, we check the oil often to ensure that everything is running smoothly. Most recently, each grade level completed their district local assessments in reading and math. Not surprisingly, as we analyzed our scores standard by standard, student by student; we found that students were making great growth! In fact, some of our grade levels scored at the top of the district comparisons on many standards. This last Teacher Institute Day served as a great tune-up and complete overhaul of our district science program. Our teachers received great training opportunities and even spent time creating and working through the same engineering challenges that our students will partake in next year. Here is a video introduction to our Next Generation Science Standards. We look forward to engaging our students in exciting engineering projects and hands-on learning experiences!
Our students and staff in grades 3-5 will be racing around the track when we begin our annual state testing. This year, Madison 3-5 students will participate in PARCC reading and math assessments from April 12-22.
I want to thank you for all that you do in partnering with us in your child’s education. The hours spent reading with your child during our Olympic reading incentive program, the daily practice on math facts, and all of the additional learning activities that you provide for your child have a huge impact on the staff’s ability to guide students toward their great potential.
Sincerely,
Tim Callahan, Principal
Madison Elementary

DID YOU KNOW? You can pay with a check when purchasing a yearbook online. Just click on the payment option drop down menu and select 'Check'. Enter the information from your check as prompted.
All yearbooks must be prepaid by April 30. If you pay after April 30, shipping charges will apply and the yearbook will be sent directly to your home.
Click here for a list of all students that have ordered a yearbook as of March 14, 2016.
Custom Pages - TreeRing offers a custom yearbook option. You can personally create two pages with photos that you upload. Please be sure to upload your personal photos to a private folder under your account, otherwise, the Madison community has the ability to view your photos on TreeRing. These custom pages will take the place of two pages that will appear in non-custom books, the Lunch and Recess collage page and a compilation page of various Madison events. If you opt to include custom pages, the deadline to complete these pages and be 'print ready' is April 8.
When finished customizing, set your book to 'print ready' or you won't receive your custom pages. Not customizing? Just leave your book NOT 'print ready' and you will receive the standard book.
All School Photo - Please mark your calendars for the All School Photo scheduled for Tues., April 5 at 2:30 p.m. More information on design will be forthcoming.
Please contact Dawn Draus at yearbook@madisonschoolpta.org with any questions.
