What's Up At The Nest...

It was all smiles today at OMS for picture day. Thank you, PTA, for organizing! We also started our principal read alouds in all classrooms. Focusing on our theme of #owlsforothers, we read the books Do Unto Otters and Dolphins in Trees, talked about ways we can look out for each other, and designed our own otters. Over the next few weeks, we will be reading in the other classes and look forward to displaying our otters in the commons soon!

OMS Reading Night Sign-up

Let's celebrate reading together for our One Book One School program! Families are invited to attend the Olive-Mary Stitt Family Reading Night on Tuesday, October 23 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. To help us plan appropriately for the event, please read through the session offerings on this form and choose 2 sessions that your family would like to attend. All families will be able to view the opening presentation from The Grove (a Glenview Park District nature center) at 6:30 pm. In addition, everyone is invited to visit the OMS Library Media Center to work on activities related to our One Book One School event and to decide if they'd like to sponsor a book for our collection. Since the other sessions featuring picture books will be held in classrooms, there will be a limited number of attendees due to space availability.

On the night of the event, families will be given a personal schedule to follow for the evening’s sessions. To make sure that you can get your first choices and because space is limited, please sign up early. If a session fills, you will receive a notice to choose another activity. This sign-up form will accept responses through 8:30 am on Monday, October 1. Each family who chooses to attend should choose 2 sessions on the sign-up form. If you are unable to attend the Family Reading Night, you do not need to complete the form.

Video of the Week - Butterfly Garden

What took over 35 volunteers putting in over 400 hours, over 400 plants, & covers over 1700 square feet of planting area? Our new Butterfly Garden on our west playground. Former Olive Owl and soon-to-be Eagle Scout, Dominick Pawlak, spent countless hours researching, planning, and executing the beautification of this space. He stopped by to visit this week to drop off some butterfly and milkweed books for our LMC. Thank you, Dominick, for this wonderful learning space. We look forward to enjoying it for many years to come!
