From School Administration
One way to help mark the mid-point of the year is through our participation in The Great Kindness Challenge. It is no coincidence that the annual Great Kindness Challenge falls at the mid-point of the school year. This is a great opportunity to refresh, renew, and refocus our desire to have a positive environment for our students, staff, and community. The Great Kindness Challenge provides an opportunity for our students to care for each other in ways that go above and beyond their normal interactions. By showing compassion, unity, and respect, our students can continue to thrive in a positive environment. We encourage everyone to participate and spread kindness around the school and in the community.

Junior Achievement in a Day (JA in a Day) - SAVE THE DATE
One of our business partnerships is with Junior Achievement of Central Maryland.
JA of Central Maryland provides over $2,000 worth of supplies and resources to help run JA in a Day at Clemens Crossing. JA in a Day is a full-day program for Kindergarten through 5th-Grade students designed to provide experiences in work readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy.
Our annual JA in a Day will be held on March 18. In order to be able to run a successful day, we need two volunteers in each classroom to deliver the instruction. Our parent and community volunteers help share real-life work experiences with our students in addition to the content that is shared.
Please consider volunteering for this program. New volunteers need to participate in a training on March 11 at 4:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. at CCES.
To volunteer, please complete this form below or use this link.
Mrs. Dani Gardner, from our PTA, is helping to coordinate volunteers. If you have any questions, email Mrs. Gardner at dnr318@gmail.com or Mr. Cosentino at ecosentino@hcpss.org.
The Great Kindness Challenge Spirit Week 2019
The Great Kindness Challenge 2019
Your child is part of a powerful and positive bullying prevention initiative that will lead to more kindness, unity, and respect at school and beyond. To help build upon this momentum, we are participating in a unifying service project: Change Matters!
Change Matters! is a collection of spare change to benefit our local homeless shelter, The Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center.
All students are invited to participate by giving their extra coins! The money we raise will go towards supporting this important service in our own neighborhood. This is a great opportunity for our students to respond to the needs of others, which teaches empathy and compassion.
Additionally, we are going to have a fun spirited week during The Great Kindness Challenge. Each day is designated as a Spirit Day with a theme (see below).
For more information on The Great Kindness Challenge, please visit: www.greatkindnesschallenge.org. Thank you in advance for helping to create a culture of kindness and compassion in our community and beyond!
