Veterans Day Program
On Friday, November 11th, Bruneau Elementary had a Veterans Day Assembly to show honor and gratitude for our veterans. Students were able to eat lunch with local Veterans and presented them with a Veterans Day reading.
Bruneau Elementary students raised money to buy our local Veterans a plaque honoring their service.
Our guest speaker, Jake Kunsky, narrated a pictorial presentation about his experiences while serving in the armed forces. Sergeant Kunsky displayed his uniforms and parachute. He showed students what it is like to use night vision goggles. Students also learned about the sacrifices that Veterans and their families make to ensure our safety and security.
We thank Sergeant Kunsky for sharing his time and experiences with us.

Clinton wins Her Bid for the Presidency!
Secretary Hillary Clinton prevailed as the winner of a long-fought battle to be the first woman President of the United States during the 4th and 5th GrrrRaider’s General Election held Tuesday, November 8, 2016. Secretary Clinton’s supporters provided a 60% approval while the challenger, Mr., Trump, carried 40% of the votes. In other races, Mr. Labrador (Republican) was unseated by challenger Mr. Piotrowski (Democrat) while Mr. Crapo (Repubican) will be sent back to Washington D.C. to represent Idaho...
Our mock election was a culmination of this fall’s learning targets and Project Based Learning that asked the question “What does it take to be an informed citizen?” We have been learning about the foundations of the United States of America as laid down by the framers of the Constitution. We have learned the path to the Presidency, the three branches of the state and federal governments, and we are presently learning the powers, checks, and balances that the framers wisely designed to give America one of the most stable and yet arguably imperfect self-governing system in the world.
Tuesday’s election results offered us a rich discussion and real world example of the Electoral College. Our children are very fortunate to see with their own eyes how our country can experience a divisive election season, a nearly even splitting of the popular vote, a President Elect that is seated by the Electoral College, and the resulting peaceful and respectful transition from leader to leader and from party to party.
With this new understanding our students are beginning to see themselves as partners in a republic and are asking questions about how they can positively lead our country and work internationally in a global society. Their very thoughtful analysis and respectful practice of citizenship is a beacon of light that proves to be inspirational each day.
Music Ms. Volk
Even though we are still in the first half of November, it is full on Christmas in Ms. Volk’s music room! Bruneau Elementary students have almost learned all their songs for their December music program. This year’s theme is “Bells”. Students are learning a combination of singing, speaking, dancing and instrument activities to showcase what they learned in music class this year so far. Aside from Christmas songs, lessons are proceeding as usual. Ms. Wampler’s class is enjoying their singing games, Ms. Prucker’s class loves learning about major and minor, and Mrs. Kangas-Hanes’s class already is beginning to show mastery of their three recorder notes!
BES Math Night
Town Library

How to Cook a Thanksgiving Turkey
How to cook a Thanksgiving turkey…
Written by 2nd & 3rd Grade
A Thanksgiving turkey is a tan white color and raw when we bring it home.
Sometimes you can deep fry it but we will tell you about cooking it in the oven.
It’s frozen and you have to put your hand in and pull out all the stuff out of it.
You put the water inside of it to let it melt.
Then you wash the turkey with only water.
Then you stuff it up. Some people put rice in it. Sometimes people put carrots and potatoes.
Then you put seasonings in it. You can put pepper, salt, garlic salt or garlic and herb (green stuff).
Sometimes people put olive oil on it.
Put tinfoil in the bottom of the pan and warm up the oven to 400 degrees.
Wait for it to ding and then you put the turkey in.
You might want to put tinfoil over the turkey so it don’t burn.
Then let the turkey cook.
You cook it either an hour or an hour and a half but some people can have four hours.
You just don’t want it burned and it depends on how big the turkey is.
You take the turkey out of the oven and then you let it cool off with the tinfoil still on it.
After it’s cooled off then you can take the tinfoil off and you can put butter on it if you want too.
Then you get a big knife and cut it into pieces.
You cut the legs and the wings, then you cut the rest of the pieces.
Some people have an electric knife for cutting meat.
Then you put it on a big plate.
Last you can eat it and enjoy it.
Then you can clean up and watch football. And that is how you cook a Thanksgiving turkey.
