Fall Semester IB Update
IB Mock Assessments and IA Calendar
On Assessments
Let's dispel some of the fear by explaining the process a bit. IB courses are designed in such a way that the syllabus provides the candidates with the experience they need to be successful with the assessments. There are two types of assessments:
- Internal Assessments - which are completed and evaluated by your current facilitator then submitted to the IB for further evaluation. These components are uploaded to IB in April of the second year, but we have spread out the due dates throughout the first and second years to limit stress on our candidates.
- External Assessments - which are completed on a certain date (or by a certain date as pertains to Art/Film/Theatre) and are evaluated solely by the IB. These exams take place in May of the second year.
MOCK EXAMS
At SCVi, we provide the candidates with the opportunity to participate in Mock Exams so that they will become comfortable with the settings prior to the actual exams in the second year. We feel it's important to create a similar setting so that you're not just thrown into the testing without having the tools to be successful.
Each Year One and Year Two candidate will participate in Mock Exams as a means to practice the skills needed to be successful with both Internal and External Exam Components. In the Fall these exams are during the last week of the semester. In the Spring, they fall in late March.
Each exam is scheduled for two blocks. The schedule is listed below for your convenience. Should you have any general questions about the exams, feel free to email Ms. Sena. If you're questions are more subject specific, reach out to your facilitator.
