Hawk News 1.3
Hello Havel Families,
All of us recognize that this is a very different start to our school year. We look forward to the day when we can come together in a safe manner, but until that time it is important that we work closely together to make the new year a positive experience for our students.
Since we are committed to having the remote and virtual learning experience to be similar to what students would experience in an in-person experience, we want students to be prepared to use all of the resources available to them in these environments to be successful.
Your student’s teacher assignment will be emailed to you this Friday, August 28th. Following our safety protocols, we will bring students and a parent into school during the first few days of school in small groups (up to 1 to 3 students with a staff member) between 20 – 45 minutes to issue devices, distribute materials, and teach how to utilize the resources available on the laptop. During that time, students will be greeted by a staff member, be able to ask questions and review class expectations.
After returning home with the laptop, students should practice going onto their computer each morning utilizing “Class Link” to access Schoology and continue to become familiar with the resources, as well as to complete the activities outlined for that day. Students should be ready to begin their daily routines on Tuesday, September 8, 2020.
In addition to being prepared to receive the laptop, we ask that you bring the attached completed registration materials with you during your scheduled time. If you are unable to print the document, we will have printed copies of this material in the classroom.
I will be sending an additional email to you with more information on what the laptop distribution will look like for our Havel Hawks after you receive your child’s teacher assignment on Friday. This email will contain a link to schedule a time to pick up your student’s device. Please call 586-797-5200 or email me at kristina.tepper@uticak12.org if you have questions or concerns.
While the start of the school year will look different, the staff of Havel Elementary is committed to meeting our mission of providing a safe and positive learning environment for all of our students!
