Teaching the New Computing Curriculum Using iPad Apps
This is a practical hands-on course, in which effective & engaging lessons will be shared using iPad apps to teach computing in both Key Stage 1 & 2.
Recent presentations for National Association of Head Teachers and Focus Education have added a reputation for excellence and making a sustained impact of standards.
During the session delegates will learn a whole school approach on how to be outstanding in the new computing curriculum and understand what computing is and why it is important. They will be provided with an overview of the new Programme of Study (Computer Science, Information Technology & Digital Literacy), gain the subject knowledge to be confident to teach the new computing curriculum in Key Stage 1 & 2 and look at strategies for assessment through creative uses of apps opportunities for AfL & summative assessment and also ways pupils can keep portfolios of evidence using digital books which include reflective commentary as pupils progress through key stages.
The session will address the following objectives:
- Share a whole school approach on how to be outstanding in the new computing curriculum.
- Investigate computing and why is it important?
- An overview the new Programme of Study (Computer Science, Information Technology & Digital Literacy).
- Provide the subject knowledge to be confident to teach the new computing curriculum in Key Stage 1 & 2.
- Practical hands-on look at effective & engaging lessons using iPad apps to teach computing.
- Share examples for assessment opportunities through creative uses of apps for AfL & summative assessment and look at how digital books can be used as portfolios of evidence with reflective commentary.
